tips on the high tone vaquero please?

kneedet

New member
picked up a high tone V and was wondering how the high tone benefits and the purpose of the modification, thanks

As we age, our hearing response changes.
Some people have dropouts (reduced response) to certain ranges of frequencies. Selecting a range that you can hear clearly is important for obvious reasons.
If you hear both tones well, then it would be a matter of preference. One of the reasons I chose my C is the sound that comes out of it. After watching countless videos of different detectors squeaking, squawking, beeping and dinging, the Tesoro sound was the ticket. I can't imagine a 5hr hunt listening to some of the detectors out there.

Some claim that with the high tone, you can tell when you are over a piece of iron by the snappy sound of the signal.
I have a high tone model and used a low tone Cibola for a while.
I definately liked the high tone better.
It seems to alert me to a signal better and seems I can get more information from the signal from the high tone.
I have other machines that are multitone and the higher the tone, generally the better the target so to speak.
This is one reason I opted for the high tone.

I have the high tone Vaq, and a lower tone Compadre.
I bought the high tone because I thought it would be a better match to my older ears, but I seem to hear all signals very well at both frequencies.
Maybe I am just used to the higher tone after hunting with it longer, but I think it is a bit more pleasant sounding to me, overall.

I also have the high tone Vaquero that I use with volume controllable ear phones. Some days my hearing is worse than other days, with the high tone and ear phones, I am able to adjust perfectly the pitch that I need to make the finds. Happy hunting.
