To Eric: GP Extreme Performance

Hello Eric Foster,
Even though I don't post much, I have followed your forum for sometime. Confidentially: I know many guys that know you personally, and they state your the man to ask.
I'm an avid detectorist in the desert regions of Arizona. I'm wondering if there is anything else that I could do to increase performance out of the Minelab GP Extreme. I hear the GP has a built in voltage regulator, unlike the SD2100 & SD2200d's. Coiltek has just brought out a 12 volt system that will keep the SD's regulated at peak voltage. Although, I hear this unit will not work or increase performance on the GP Extreme since it's already regulated.
I keep the battery always full charged, use the larger diameter power cord, power amplifier, Coiltek search coils and quality headphones. Well I guess there isn't much I can do to increase more performance out of this unit.
So my question is- "When are you going to build something that will outperform or at least be equal to the Minelab's at a cheaper price? I know if anyone, your the man that can do it!! Hope something comes around soon."
Best regards,
Rob Allison

iv'e often wondered about this myself rob,we've all heard about eric's "beach burner" i just wonder if he could do it with a GP?

Hi Rob,
I'm well into laying out a circuit board for a gold detector but can't give a date when it will be available as I have many other pressing commitments at the moment. As in my other post, I don't know the Extreme, so cannot make any suggestions for improving it. What improvements would you like to see? Greater depth - detection of smaller nuggets?, or some other feature?
Eric.

Hello Eric,
I would like to see better adjustments to iron mineralization. I'm not interested in finding small gold nuggets, for example would be 2-5 grains type stuff. The SD & GP's with the Mono search coils still have problems in some really high iron mineralized areas. I would like to see, if possible, the use of better balancing with the use of the mono searchcoils.
Without a doubt, I would like to see more depth. Although, how deep do we want to dig for metal targets?? I remember Chris Hake mentioning a long time ago about the depths of nuggets. I strongly believe he is right, and wouldn't guess that sizable gold nuggets are abundant in vast amounts in deep (several feet) alluvial gravels. Is bulldozing economic after the first foot or so??
Thanks,
Rob
