Got out for an hr with the Omega this afternoon but only came up with 2 "good targets" the quarter and the ring, thought I had finally found real gold but after getting it home and cleaning it up it looks to be plated, also found another key, that makes it at least one key every time in the last 4 hunts. I know one of the topics is which signals to dig so thats why I posted the picture of the ring, key and squashed bottle caps all of them showed a vid of 77-78 in the ground with the tid of zinc so if I had been ignoring zinc pennies as I have in the past I'd have missed the ring. HH Jimmie

That's the only problem with gold, very wide range. I still have a bad habit of hunting trashy areas and not digging all signals. I know i miss alot of gold targets. Only time i have found gold was hunting in woods where there is not very many target and digging all good signals 50- and up. Good find on the ring, real or plated. Tom

Seeing the ring in a clod will crtainly get your attention quick. Real or otherwise, still an nice find. HH jim tn

I was full of piss and vinegar today and started out digging everything 50 and up. I dug at least fifty holes. NO GOLD or Silver. I dug lots of foil, can slaw, zinc pennies, screw caps, pull tabs and other junk. I got a silver bracelet yesterday, it was a 79. All the 79s got me today were screw caps.:ranting:

Tomorrow will be a better day.:)

At least you were digging, !!!!! :goodnight:

Thanks ya'll, I really wanted to find some nickles but from 55-64 it was nothing but pull tabs of all shapes and sizes, I think if I try to hunt that area again it'll have to be with the Cibola and 5.75 coil maybe set the disc just under zinc to limit the huge number of trash targets I'll have to dig (I really need to get the 5" DD coil for the Omega one of these days), then over time as i get the area worked down some start lowering the disc until I get down under foil, I figure it'll only take me 6 months to a yr :detecting: HH Jimmie

Congrats on the ring bro! Nice find even if it is plated.
