This morning found my hunting buddy and I on our old fairgrounds. Typically lean pickings there, it;s loaded with decaying iron, but on occasion still gives up a oldie here and there. We both had on the small 5" coil. This morning I was fortunate enough to get my coil over 4 wheat cents and 2 silver dimes. 1, a 1910 Barber and the other a 41d Merc., along with a couple of junk rings and a couple other curios. Oh, and 9 pieces of clad and 7 Memorials.
The other 2 Barber dimes came on separate hunts last week. Another 1910 and the near slick one is a 1902. Also got a 42P war nickel on one of the hunts. The 1902 was the last target I dug on that hunt. It was about ten feet off to the side of my car and I hit it as I was about to call it a wrap. No telling how many times I parked in that same spot and walked away from the tree stump it was so peacefully waiting for someone to save it. Glad I finally did. HH jim tn
