Today's finds

I worked a spot this morning that was part of the Military base up to the mid 80's that is very trashy and in the past had emi problems when ever I hunted it. I really should have put the 5" DD on my LTD, but didn't. Have some turf still to work there so maybe will tomorrow. EMI wasn't as much of a problem this morning, but still enough to get the quietest frequency I could and run with 4 disc. and sen. of 70. I was in the bp mode and 4h tones. GB was 67-70. The first picture is characteristic of the type of recoveries on this site. Less, the trash finds. Second picture is the clad and third is of 3 wheats, a 24, 56 and 58, a 54 Washington quarter and a Navy safe drivers pin. Wow, are we having some great weather. Makes me wish I was still out swinging. HH jim tn (two pictures are reversed)

Hey Jim---neat finds!-----In the 2nd picture--is that a little metal race car?---It looks real old.-------The wife & I was just looking at your picture & we found one once that looks very similiar to yours in the picture.----We thought ours (and yours) appeared to be quite old.------We really like finding those (old) metal toys---they are little pieces of history to.---------Del

Del, yes, it is a metal Tootsie Toy WEDGE DRAGSTER. This one for a change has all its wheels. So many I find don't. I like finding the little cars, too. I'll shoot a picture of some displays I have of them on my garage wall of ones I've found on the Military housing site. I have given quite a few away over the years to a local Women with kids shelter. HH jim tn

Jim----Do you have any idea when they stopped making those Tootsie toy cars?----I wished I had a book with info. on some of those old metal toys--probably isn't a book like that available but wish there was.-----We've got a bunch of old metal toys we've found at various places over the years.----------Del

Del, 70's rings a bell, but do a google on Tootsie Toys. I just don't remember for sure. HH jim tn

Looks like there are several books available on this subject, I'd never checked on it before.----I guess I better get a couple & check out some of our old metal toys---might have something worth some bucks. :)---------Del

Some of those older cast metal ones do have some value. Un-fortunately, most of the older ones I find are in pretty tough condition. Interesting, non the less. HH jim tn
