I hunted an old local park today and had some good results. The park has been pounded to death through the years to the extent no one hunts it except on rare occasions. Today I took my F70 and decided to try and unmask some coins. It turned out to be a good effort. I found a silver 1946 Roosevelt dime and 79 cents in clad. The dime was 7 inches deep and the detector was set on sensitivity 80, Threshold 9 Disc on 1 sounds where on 4. The dime was 7 inches down and near some iron. I believe I had missed this one in the past with my Explorer SE because the SE nulled out the iron and had not recovered soon enough to pick up the dime. This is the fourth silver dime I have found since starting to use my F70 in this park. I have a friend that has hunted with me on a few hunts at this park with his Explorer SE and found one seated lady dime and that is all. He does not hunt there anymore because it is tough hunting. I have enough confidence in my F70 that it is fun following behind my E-Trac and Explorer friends. Good hunting to you all.

Way to go CS! I have a park like that, "pounded" but have pulled silver out of there the last two years. Look at it this way: the others cleaned out a lot of the junk for you. Good Hunts, CO

Thank you for this post...its one of the best regarding what an F70 can do properly set up, and in confident capable hands! :clapping: What coil were you using?

I was using the 11 inch DD coil. I have found coins as deep as 9 inches and small trash as deep as 12 inches. Properly set up this machine goes very deep.

Good hunting CS,I have also done well in heavy worked areas.one such place I dug a walklng half,2 IH's,barber dime, and many wheats.I love going to places no one thinks are worth the effort any more!!......hh rick in mi.

No the threshold did not need to be adjusted. The HZ setting quieted the detector down with the sensitivity setting below the maximum setting quieted the detector very well. I always try to adjust for noise first with setting the HZ setting then lowering the sensitivity setting before adjusting the threshold setting I have found the threshold settings will have more of an impact on depth capability so I avoid using it as much as possible.

find a clear patch of ground and Ground Balance...run sens up until it chatters, back off a little, run Thresh up until it chatters, press HZ button???

You just about got it right Mud. Have your threshold at 9 and your sensitivity at 99 and your Disc at 1 through 4 Speed on DE sounds on 4 and notch on 1. with the detector coil 1 foot above the ground. Adjust the HZ to the quietest reading of the 7 choices. Then if you still have EMI reduce the sensitivity down to further reduce the EMI. I don't like to go any lower then 60 on the sensitivity. Then if you still have EMI reduce the Threshold till you have just a hint of chatter or none at all. You now have your detector set for as deep as it can go using 4 tones. I hope you get good results setting your f70 for max depth this way. I do not have any problems with getting 10 to 12 inches on coins in our light mineralization here in Indiana. I usually only get 1 to 2 dirt bars showing in our soil. Good luck my friend.By the way, be sure and ground balance after you have made your settings.
