Today's finds

Foggy

New member
Hi guys
This is some of my finds today, in amongst them is a silvery disk, on the disk the following inscription reads, The "Velos-Handy" British Maker Co Ltd London. I thought it would be easy to research with all that info but believe me I can't find anything on it! I found a single item on an aeroplane called the Velos and loads of bicycle links but nothing concrete.
So my question is, Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Because I don't:surrender:
Had a good afternoon with a varied bunch of finds including, bullet, half enamelled badge, naval badge (I think), some lead items and another tobacco lid handle!!
Any suggestions are welcome guys
Regards
Foggy

Nice bunch of varied finds. Maybe SHERLOCK Elton will jump on tracking down what your find is. He is a master at sniffing. Good luck! HH jim tn

Hey Foggy, theres also a "Whatzit" forum thread...its a great place to hang out and look at weird stuff, also, theres a few guys that go there all the time that are really good at finding out what something is...its their hobby, so dont deprive them!

Thanks Mudpuppy and Jim, I'll check out that other forum thread, I haven't been out of this forum yet:)
Have a great weekend

Dang Foggy! Where do you live? I'd like to come and detect with you!! :) More interesting than my matchbox cars, for sure. Great finds man!!

Foggy, can you take some really good pictures, close up ones, of that item that you can't identify? If it has any markings, writing, or symbols, can you please enlarge those? This one is going to be a bugger! LOL

Definitely post the close up pics on Whatzit!

Nice finds,buddy!!!!!!!

Hey Foggy, if you get the chance, you should try to read as many of these forums as possible. You will start to see "patterns" that the successful hunters share...no matter what machine they are swinging. Also, good detecting practices...theres a good thread up on the ATPro forum right now of some guy getting booted out of a schoolyard by the Principal that everyone new to this should pay heed to. Its always nice to learn from other peoples mistakes and sucesses. You will meet a lot of great friends along the way as well.:beers:

Hi guys
Stilpony I've put up the pics in the Whatzit thread and fingers crossed:yikes:thanks for that file mate.
BluesCruise I am a long way east of you guys where this gre at hobby is illegal:confused: I only ever go out on some farm fields my friend owns, which is kinda lucky because they just happen to be steeped in history. I've had great finds dating back to 12th century, I never find anything modern. The advantage is the fields are out of view of the public so I can relax and enjoy my sessions. The odd time I've been on the beach or another area, it has been very uncomfortable constantly looking over my shoulder at every car or person that goes past! So mate if you want to hop on a plane and join me, there's no problem but its at the risk of prosecution and all your equipment being confiscated:cry:
Mudpuppy thanks for the info and time, I'm not out over the weekend so will have a look around the forum.
Thanks guys, keep in touch
Regards
Foggy

Hey Mud, I would like to read the tread your talking about but don't want to thumb to pages and pages of threads. Whats the guy's forum name?...or what page number is it on?

Metal detecting is illegal?!?!?!

Damn governments and archaeologists!!! Time to go to war with those idiots!!!! :starwars:

Such a harmless hobby, there's no reason for all this garbage we have to put up with.

Keep hunting, buddy, and stay safe! Wear camo, or better yet, buy a ghilli suit!

I found it! Its on page 6 of the AtPro forum under the heading "metal detecting illegal on high school grounds?" by a poster named Marc-Montana there were 45 replys,
gist of it is he went and tried to detect at a school during the week while it was in session..never do that! Its a good read, and a lot of good posters offered advice.
