Todays Silver Coin.

Hi guys Forget that I detect in the UK this is worth a read.

I found a Roman Denarius at about 12" and Feeling very pleased with myself put it safely away.

When I got home I started looking in the reference books and Found that it was a Tiberius and he Ruled the Roman Empire in the years 14 - 37 AD.

The reverse Shows his Mother Livia.

It gets better for those who went to Sunday School.

This coin was known as a Tribute Penny in the Holy Bible.

Mathew 22 (17 - 21) "Therefore render unto Caesers that which is Caesars" etc.

I certainly remember some of the words never dreaming that such a coin would come to me one day.

Wherever we detect research before and after a dig makes the hobby so much more rewarding and exciting.

A happy New Year to you All.Jerry.

It's amazing that something almost 2,000 years old came out looking so good. You should be very proud. Congrats. Ron

Really Great find....I don't care where you're from...I love seeing old coins...I can only IMAGINE finding such a great coin...Keep posting...I just wish I had a detector when I was in Europe back in the early 70's...TT

Greetings, JBM.
What A wonderful find. I will be heading to Budapest Hungry in July and will take a detector. I will be staying with a friend there, and have permission to hunt his property. I will S$#T if I find a coin half as nice as yours. Happy Hunting Grounds,

Savage (EX-II)

I went to England in 2005 and hunted for 2 weeks. Best time I ever had. I found the same coin too. I still find it fascinating to look at - it's age, beauty, etc. Just think, your coin may have been held by Jesus!
