Todays woods hunt.

Rain stopped early this morning, so grabbed the LTD and headed off for some swinging in the woods. As is usually the case, not many targets, but did manage a few good finds. The most interesting was a ring, which I think might be a class ring, with the date 1928, G S and a B between the G S. It rang up in the penny, dime range and some spots appear to possibly being silver plated. The gold looking piece was a solid 30-31 reading, but if gold, its plated. Both the ring and gold piece were 4" deep. Along the way got a 1924 Mercury dime and a 43P war nickel, a 52D wheat and a few pieces of clad, a no cash value token and a tag of sorts with # 26 on it. 11" dd coil, disc. 4, sen 80, b p mode, 4h tones and g b of 65-68. Jim, that's well worth the trip. Those are really nice finds. I started to head to the woods today, but the electrical power was off and on most of the night and was off this morning. I didn't get much rest and I ain't going nowhere in the mornings without first drinking some coffee. How's the EMI in the part of the woods where you are swinging? I'm debating if I should take my Omega, GB Pro or Vaquero. When the Omega starts with all its chattering, I take it to the car for a time out.

Depending on where you are there can be some emi issues, but I have hunted all over the woods area with both the Omega and LTD and seldom had a serious chatter problem. And, I run them both hot with little or no disc. Tonight!!! HH jim tn

Without giving up the location of your sight... What do you mean by woods.. Traditional woods, or an area adjacent to a park with trees...........I have made some decent finds in wooded areas of local parks.Just curious my friend............. Thanks for info we discussed on cleaning coins the other morning...

I have two wooded areas that I've been frequenting. One is in the city and comprises a pretty good chunk of woods with a lot of activity in and all around it and the activity dates back well into the 1800's. These woods are near traditional. The other is farm land woods that saw activity way back as well and are basically traditional. Thanks, and HH jim tn
