Too hot,too humid to dig

Here in Wisc. it,s been in the 90's & very humid for the last week & will be through out Labor day weekend. At 5:00 a.m. it's already over 70F & when I'm outside I can easily work up a sweet plus we haven't had much rain so the ground is rock hard. I was at my sisters home this last Sunday & dug 3 holes & I should have had a hammer & chisel to dig. Who out there detects in this type of environment? I'm in pretty good shape for 56 years & stay active but it's a pain digging when your sweeting your butt off.

It's been much the same here Al, although we did just get a fair amount of rain. Digging or working when the temp is in the 90's with matching humidity is something that I really try to avoid.
When it's like this, it's time to head to the water. Even if you don't get in it, until it warms up to air temperature it's still cooler just being near water.

If you're so equipped, actually getting in the water is a great idea and produces some really nice finds.

The weather here finally dropped into the 80s. Its horrible trying to detect with sweat running into your eyes, down your sunglasses, etc.
I feel your pain. So to speak.

How I would love to beach detect here in Wisc. but unfortunately some yahoo politicians along with the help of archaeologist decided to enforce laws against detecting on public beaches, rivers, streams etc.

I feel your Pain...err Heat..I just got home from work and it's 95 here on the central west coast of Florida.Yard,Park, and school hunts are on hold till the later part of fall.Beach hunts with the XT-705 are early morning b4 the sun comes up and even then there is a game plan to it..Hope for a NE wind off the gulf,a WSW or W wind from inland is a Killer, hunt the towel line and cabanas in the dark first and then when the sun comes up move up towards the shadows of the hotels/resorts till you lose that cover, then it's time to go home, usually about 9AM these days!......
So like OLH says, time to go water hunting(sorry they take that option away from you:veryangry:)but only with a fully submersible MD,polarized shades, big hat, light colored long sleeve shirt and lots of SPF 50 sun block covering your face.....GL HH

And yes, water hunts can be rewarding!...found Monday 8/23

See what this heat does.....I must have still been under the influence, shower and AC was needed to think straight!!.......meant to say,East wind or ESE wind from inland are the killers, west wind off the gulf can be refreshing, but that's usually a late afternoon sea breeze. DUH:wacko:

Here in Florida, this is our hibernation time. July-September is just awful down here. The heat and humidity is incredible. But I too plan to go out this weekend, even if only in the early morning hours.
