Too snowy to dig. But I did get excited about something today.....

With the recent snow, the only place I've been today is the mailbox. Much to my surprise, I found a package from Western & Eastern Treasures with their April 2011, Annual "Best Finds" Issue for 2010 enclosed. And even more to my surprise, I made it again this year. Although I am very proud to have dug three 1877 IH cents in a 12 month period of time (first one with the X-TERRA 705 on November 16, 2009, second on July 14, 2010 with E-TRAC and third on November 01, 2010 with E-TRAC), I'd be the first to admit that luck plays a big role in finding key date coins. But I also have to add that the more research I do, the luckier I get! I'm just waiting for the snow to melt so I can detect some spots I've lined up for what will be my 39th year of detecting. HH Randy

Congrats Randy...let's hope you find 3 more in 2011. By the way I broke down and added a X-Terra-705 to my addiction  Hope it proves to be as good as my X-70. HH TomB

Congratulation Randy! I'm still hoping you will be able to make it up to this part of the state, so we can get together and do some metal detecting.

I hesitated even making the post, because I don't want it to be taken in the wrong manner. But am still excited to have found each one of them.

I think you'll appreciate the 705 even more than you did the X-70. The Tracking GB Offset has been a "life saver" at several sites. And on those hunts when I'm not ready to quit yet, having the backlight has come in real handy. When I'm later getting home than expected, I tell my wife that it just takes longer to get back to the truck than it use to! :stretcher: HH Randy

I hope so too! Let me know when the ground is thawed, and we'll try to work something out! HH Randy

Great job Randy!! Nice to hear your getting recognition for your great finds!! And hopefully more to come! After I find them first tho ;)

Randy

Congratulations
Luck, research and experience each plays a part as does time swinging a coil
Lightning may strike again with more of the above

Way to go Randy! It takes a lot of skill, many hours in the field, plenty of research and creating your own luck to accomplish what you have. There are very few who do it better and who at the same time is always willing to share the knowledge he has gained. Congratulations!

I appreciate the kind words. HH Randy

Looking good. I hope that is a just a good stare for a good year for you.

Darn snow!

Great stuff, Randy! Keep on getting out there, more will come. Getting recognition is great, but probably not as exciting as finding them in the first place. Congratulations!
