Too tired to search ...headphone advice for F70 wanted

mudpuppy

New member
I need a new set of phones, with volumn control on both sides that work great with the F70...anybody out there that has a strong recomendation?
I feel this item is like the scope on a good rifle, you have to spend a little money here and not go cheap, or you'll miss a deep peep on a sweep and weep?
Advice?

The two I like are the Grey Ghost DMC and Black Widow. Each have a volume adjustment for both ears. The Grey Ghost Originals aren't quite loud enough for my old ears. I've tried other brands, but both mentioned have great tone and adjust. My 2 cents. Of which, I am still looking for that coin.:)HH jim tn

Killer bs, Grey Ghost, Sun Ray, I have tried and like them all ; cant tell any better than the other; they all seem to have a weakness in the headframe braking; had three of them break so far but hearing is good in all. Seems the Sun Rays do the best balance with the volume in each ear but with my ears that is not anything to brag about because i cant hear myself ; ;;;; . Good Luck

SunRay Golds,
Volume control for both ears,
Leather ear cups,
Volume limiter,
Detector type switch.

Perfect! Thanks guys...really narrowed down the field...the leather ear cups are a feature that may swing the balance...dang I hate getting swamp ear in this heat!

In a lot of heat and tot-lot or other surface hunting and good set of ear-buds work pretty darn good, but for old coin hunting (small deep targets) or anyplace were there is a lot of ambient noise then its back to the full ear cups.

I have used these guys for years. They aren't on the main page of Koss any longer. You have to look for them. I have 2 sets of these headphones. I just got 2 replacements a few weeks ago. They are good in hot weather and when detecting in the hood. The sound is really good. Wire seems to get thinner with each new version.

I use Pro Golds when on the beach and colder weather. .....Z

(for the heat) I'm wanting to try the Koss "Sportapro" those and the Portapro's are a take off from the legendary Koss KSP . I used to use the KSP back in the early 80's for all my metal detecting, they worked really well.

Mark I only live a few miles from Koss. I stopped at their little store and I tried on the Sportapro and listened to some music, really kind of nice. They are very light, no inline volume control. I like the volume control on the cord with the headphones. .....Z

hey mud make sure whatever ones you get has a long cord or you wont like it, nothing worse than setting you md down and having it pull the headphones off your head good luck hh

Thanks for all the replys and advice. I took a set of ear protector shooters head gear and sort of winged up something with that and my 'phones that seems to work...nice Sunday afternoon project, and a challenge to solder those little wires. Though I'll get a set of those lightweight non-sweatables, and a good set of cold weather gear when I can. On another note, I found a long waterproof fabric umbrella case on the beach that will make a tip-top foul weather cover for the F70 if it ever rains again.

How about this little deal?

I don't see vc20 on the Koss web site. I have one from Radio Shack. When my wife wants to go to the mall next time I will stop at Koss and ask about the vc20. Thanks......Z

Oh, please.
Just get the stereo headphones you see on the auction website (you know the one I mean).
They are cheap, well built and work great!
You don't need $100 headphones to metal detect.
