hit some local play grounds today & my son decided to come to. he had a good day he dragged his old fisher 1212-x around & found 12 coins for $4.55 i"m thinking of updating his fisher for a ACE250 so he can find more $$$ he also found 3 toy cars i think he was more happy with the cars than the cash.
I had a good day to i found 47 coins for $31.35. two 1c-2c coins & two foreign coins 1 from new zealand a 1969 one shilling & 1 from Canada a 1973 10 cent also fond a junk ring & a little 925 silver pendent in the shape of a person with a amethyst stone & probably a CZ stone.

Nice to see that you tried .. 5 is very young and attention span is short..If you planted some coins and let him find these he may start to enjoy the hobby..

Good quality time with your son is importand. :) Looks like you both got some nice treasures. It's funny to see a Canadian dime posted from the other side of the globe. :)

I"v found the best way to start with kids is get them to help you find the coins once you"v dug it out of the ground just get them to wave handfulls of dirt/bark over the coil & wait for the smile when they find the coin ( helps if they get to keep it ).
John this is the first Canadian coin i"v found so far. i"m starting to get a nice little collection of found foreign coins i love finding them.

The boy did good! Won't be long before he's out nugget hunting. Right?
I too found a toy car yesterday, Sunday, at a football field along with $1.85
in clad. Haven't found a ring in along time. Can't think of a better way to
bond with your kids than taking them out metal detecting!

Hi lazyaussie
Very nice haul, the little person with the rock, normally are sold at places like Michael's craft stores. I use to work there, depending what astrological sign your are that is the rock that you wear. They're cool, my son loves when I bring him toys cars like that too. He's 2 as you can see in the pic he wants to go metal detecting with me all the time. :detecting: It makes it more fun.

old katz i"v taken him out gold panning but he hasin"t found any yet more interested in floating the pan down the creek  i love going hunting with the kids just makes it more fun :twodetecting:.
Yaridnac thanks for that i"v never seen them before. hope the little fella starts to swing a coil real soon you"ll have heaps of fun.
Keep-on-looking hope that works out for ya my 5 year old lasts about an hour then gets sick of it.

Nice story. That is a great pendant and appears to be in good nick too. I'd hate to see the pile you accumulate if you ever loose your laziness.
