Took the boys (mistake) and visited Keith...

Me and the boys dragged Golddigger up to visit Keith on a road trip to Indiana... The boys were horror stories and now everyone understands why I don't get out much these days. Delivered Keith his WOT and Coiltek hat and reclaimed my own WOT coil back.
My 6 year old decided he'd quit watching DVD's with his older brother while I was on the far end of a field and sneak out and start playing chicken with the two lane blacktop traffic. He was even warned that under no circumstances was he to get near the road. He seemed to understand that quite well at the time. I couldn't scream loud enough to implore him to quit planting rocks on the road and running to the side... He was a nightmare. Got him off the road and was able to make the 12 year old realize he couldn't just ignore him. Stayed way closer after that escapade. Just couldn't believe a kid that gets yelled at all the time just to look both ways would think it was ok to start playing with traffic. Scary. The 12 year old decided the Explorer he was using didn't need to be tuned to me and Golddiggers specs and would work better if set to factory default settings.
Then complained about most everything to do with detecting. I guess it just wasn't a Playstation 2. At least once I decided the 6 year old couldn't be trusted at all, he came along and dug for me and filled holes. Scared me to death. I won't try this again any time soon. Spongebob the movie didn't hold his interest nearly as well as advertised.
Aside from that I did get couple IH Pennies included a fat IH, two seated dimes, 1876 CC and an 1839, my first ever nickel 3 cent piece and assorted bullets.
Decent day of hunting, stress and a long drive.
Guvner..

Fat IH and 1876 Seated came from my WOT. The nickel 3 cent piece and the 1839 Seated dime came from the stock coil. The 1865 IH penny came from the Platypus. Just wanted you guys to know what the weapons were today...

of how before I was born, he and my mom would babysit for my cousin, Corky. Now Corky was a holy terror and my Aunt Betty and Uncle John could never get anyone to babysit him after the first time.
However, my mom and dad never seemed to mind. That really perplexed my Aunt Betty, but she wrote it off to the fact that Corky really liked my dad, so she thought maybe he behaved when they babysat him.
My Mom and Dad would go to their house and they would invite another couple over to play cards. Back in those days they had no money to go anywhere or do anything, so playing cards with friends was a cheap source of entertainment. My dad worked as an usher at one of the local movie theaters in Peoria Illions and made $1.25 a week.
My Aunt Betty and Uncle John were relatively well-to-do by the standards of that day. My Uncle had started a delivery service when he was 16, delivering packages on his bike for 10 cents. He had built that business into having three delivery trucks by this point in history. So they had the money to go out to dinner, and the movies.
(As an aside, at the time of his death 5 years ago, his company, Speedy Delivery Service had over 750 delivery trucks, as well as major contracts with companies like Caterpillar Tractor Company. He was a self-made multi-millionaire.) But I digress!
One evening, my Aunt Betty and Uncle John returned home unexpectedly, because Uncle John had forgotten his wallet.
My mom and dad were sitting at the kitchen table playing cards with their friends. My Aunt Betty asked, "Where is Corky?"
My dad responded, "Oh he's in his room."
"Well, my, he certainly is being quiet."
"My dad replied, he's always quiet when we watch him."
My aunt went to look in on my cousin who she found tied to his four bed posts with a hankerchief tied around his mouth.
She came out screaming, "What are you doing to my son?" My dad says, he knows the rules. As long as he behaves himself, he gets to stay out here and listen to the radio and play with his toys. When he gets out of control, I tell him to go to his room and tie the hankerchief around his mouth, and I will be there in a minute to tie him into bed. I make him stay there 20 minutes and then I untie him and see if he can behave himself.
"Hey it's either that, or kill him!"
Now Corky was a spoiled brat that got away with murder. The funny thing about it was that he actually thought getting tied to the bed was something of a game, and he absolutely loved my dad.
My dad had set the boundaries, and CORKY knew when he made the choice to push the limits exactly what the consequences were; twenty minutes tied to the bed.
I asked my dad if Corky ever tried to get loose? My dad said, "NO, he never tried because he wouldn't have had to try too hard. It was sort of crazy really, I tied his wrists so loose that he would pull his hand out and scratch his nose and then stick his hand back into the loops."
I said, "Dad if someone ever did that today, they'd be put in jail for child abuse." My dad said, "Yeah, and today it is the kids that end up in jail, because the parents are afraid to put their foot up a kid's arse and set limits."
As for Corky, he grew up a fine man, went to college and became partners in his dad's delivery business. He cried like a baby when my dad passed away in 1990.

The boys weren't bad at all they were just being boys. Of course I'm immune to things they do since I have raised 2 fully and in the process with 2 more. Our oldest was a holy terror so there's probably more to come for you unforturnately ....just remember the dumb things we did when we were kids and give them a break when you can. Besides the stuff we did probably makes them look like angels. I'm surprised we made it out of our teen years alive
It was good to hunt with you and Jim again! Seems like we only get to do that once every couple of years. Need to change that!
Well I took you to the best spot around and you did good! Congrats on the three cent nickel! Those are tough to find since they read so darn low. Anywhere else I'm sure we would pass on digging them. I dug about 5 pieces of foil thinking every one of them would be a 3 center. 2 seated dimes are cool too. Not too many days when you get 2 of em!
THANKS so much for letting me borrow your WOT for so long. I sure found a lot of great coins with it! What is interesting is I got your WOT (from TC) at the same field I gave it back to you at! And it's a five hour drive from your house!

You almost have to lay down everything he can do and not do before any activity. Once there it is way too late.
He will play by the rules as long as you take the time to lay them down before the activity.
He can be just a terror though... And he's a politician. Always telling you how much he loves you and apparently is the same way in school. His teacher tells me that at least once a day she finds herself in a conversation with him about something entirely abstract. Like why a hallway is called "hallway"... (That's a quote..) She says he makes her laugh at least once a day...
Enough about that... Guvner..

Fortunately he grew out of it ! He is busy drilling teeth, doing root canals, and oral surgery. He is in his third year of dental school, so don't give up hope GUV.
Children like ours are the grand thinkers, usually way too smart for their own good. While they should be paying attention in English class, they are thinking of a way you could power an automobile with dirt.
As long as you love them like crazy, and continue to lay down the rules, somehow, someway, it all works out.
Take care!

You did really well with it and not wanting to give it back probably spoke volumes to everyone else..
Thanks again for the invite. We'll do it again soon.
Take care...
Guvner..

If he wouldn't have kept posting them finds with it I don't think it would have been near as bad...
Keith.. How about a post showing just the WOT finds in the older hunted hard areas of the past...
Guvner..

I will do that. It will take a while to put it all together but I will take on the challenge!
