It was a nice day Saturday so we shut off the Nintendo, grabbed a truck load of detectors, and went to a local school. The kids like this place because they can play on the playground if detecting is slow. Zak wanted to try out the sports field to see if he could snag some jewelery.

He got a good tone and dug a hole, yep jewelry. A silver ear ring with some green and red stones shaped like a couple cherries.

Anika was hunting the bark chips with Grandma's detector.

I was out in the field helping Zak when Anika let out a yell, GOLD COIN GRANDPA!!!!!!!!! I headed over to her and she held out her hand with some other finds, sure enough, there was her gold coin.

Too bad it was just a gold plated Susan B. dollar, but it was a gold coin for her.

She carded it up and put it in our treasure chest. The kids hunted for about two hours before the playground equipment lured them in and they had to play. Anika ended up with over 4 bucks in change and a pair of necklace pendants, Zak found his earing, a bracelet and a buck and a half of coins. We ended up at the toy store where they spent their finds. A fine day to remember. As for me, I did not even take my detector out of the truck. DC
