After a few years of running the Silver uMax, and then recent talks on this forum, Ive just purchased a Vaquero. :ninja:

Im really looking forward to all the added control and hopefully even a little added depth over the Silver.

Thanks everyone for the comments and info on this forum. :)

let us know how that works out for ya. I have always wanted to try a Vaquero but haven't had the need yet since I run the Tejon. Now I am kind of curious as to how they compare.

Congrats. I'm thinking you will like it a lot once you get comfortable with it.

The Vaquero is really deep. When the discrimination is set at its maximum there is little loss of depth if you also set the threshold and sensitivity at maximum as well. At full discrimination you can usually run both the threshold and sensitivity at their maximum without any chatter. The other detectors that I have lose a lot of depth when I crank up the discrimination. For some reason the Vaquero is not affected as much.

Very true. Actually I notice little if any depth loss from zero to max disc. Try it on a copper penny that is at max detection range in the ground, if you get a chirp on low disc it will be there on max disc too.

When I changed over from the silver to the vaquero my hardest learning curve was the sound of the machine. Every good target sounded like something I would pass up on the silver

Excellent choice  !

She arrived today. Down to the wire too. :)
Got a hunt with a few folks in the morning so cant wait to try it out. :twodetecting:

Had time to mess with it for a few minutes in the yard. The ground balancing seems like a breeze. Not sure why people have trouble with it so hopefully Im doing it right.
I basically followed the way 53Silver has done it in his youtube videos and it makes good sense I think. I was able to get it balanced without trouble.

Will report how she does after the hunt. :goodnight:

Well it did well. I loved it. Felt like using a hot-rod uMax or something.
Mostly found clad cause the spot kinda sucked but had a good time and think Im gonna love the Vaquero.

I had one issue with it but gonna make a post about it.

This Is IMHO one of the Best MD's on the market! Congrats to you. Only MD I sold and still regret, Beale.
