Took the Safari out for a walk today

I decided to get out on the beach today. To my surprise it was low tide. I walked around the salt water's edge, avoid getting my shoes wet. I picked up 5 quarters, 5 dimes and 16 pennies, along with a dog tag and a charm bracelet. I think I'm gonna like this machine.:detecting:

The more you learn it, the more you'll love it, I've had mine for nearly 3yrs & I love it. I had 2 other MDers & this one is a keeper GL & HH

Mine has paid for itself many times over and continues to work the way it did when I bought it new. Mine has been with me detecting in several states and even detected abroad in England! IF and when the circuit board stops functioning (I hope that day never comes) I'll treat myself to a brand new one because they work so incredibly well:thumbup:

Yesterday, while hunting the beach, some nice folks from Canada were talking to me. They asked if the Safari could detect gold.I told them it could and the lady started to take off her wedding rings and toss them in the sand. I said," wait wait, just wave your hand in front of the coil. It rang a nice solid 20. The ring I found last week rings in a solid 14. Good to know when to dig.

Interesting....would you pick another Safari over an Etrac? I'm thinking about saving up to get an Etrac next

S.S. Although Ive never swung an Etrac, I'd like to borrow one and see how it performs. It weighs a little over a 1+ Ib more than the Safari, costs $500 more, but that said, it has an iron masking capability and the USB interface ability (although I don't think I would use that). I might like it over the Safari but until I use one in the field, I couldn't say I wouldn't buy one.

I love my Safari (it paid for itself in its first year not even counting jewelry finds), but when I use it anymore, I feel undergunned compared to my CTX. I do think that my Safari is better at splitting out silver from clad quarters tho.

Remember tho, that experience with a machine means a Lot. What a higher end machine usually gets you is the ability to top out at a higher level.

any known depth comparison to some other detectors such as mxt all pro? I know you can swing faster with that one..

I already did that .....I Had the Safari ..... switch to the Etrac and I Immediately went back to the Safari .....For my type of hunting, coin & Jewelry hunting in the sports fields / tot Lots / Salt water Beach's . The Safari Go's plenty deep , Runs very stable, very light weight. Great Target ID ....... Now if I was hunting old home sites, in heavy iron, then the Etrac would be the detector.
