Toyota........well.....there's some good news and some bad news

All 8 models involved in the accelerator recall are made in U.S. plants. Toyota's popular Prius hybrid is made in Japan, has no accelerator problems, and has been unaffected by the two recalls involving sticking accelerators. Unfortunately, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration just announced this morning they are opening an investigation into braking problems with the Prius. Seems as if there's a "software glitch" (in the ECM I suppose) that causes the brakes to fail.

I really feel bad for Toyota. For decades they led everyone in quality. Their Toyota Production System was the world's pattern for quality improvement. Guess it just proves the old saying - "When you're on top, the only way you can go is down". It's going to take many years for them to recover from this.

Well as a former GM stock owner, I've got a fairly sour taste in my mouth from the auto companies in general. There has been no shortage of corporate gluttony in the auto industry. For Toyota I think this is a just a short term blip in their quality, there is probably more that happens that we don't hear about with all of the industry. I'm considering converting to become Reformed Amish, and breed my own transportation, quality issues can be dealt with w/out a lawyer, and my mileage will go up. (Of course my hayburner index will also increase)

it's the floor mats now it's sticking accelerators, I wonder if they are looking at the Cruise Control systems in these vehicles, some experts are pointing in that direction.

As a new 2010 Toyota truck owner I couldn't be more happy with it, it is everything that I had hoped for in a truck.
I have had not one issue with my new truck, not one

it's a "sticking accelerator". Sometimes though, they talk about "sudden acceleration". Those are two very different things! Toyota's fix is a little 1/2" square metal shim that is added to the accelerator assembly. It may stop the accelerator from sticking but I can't see that it would do anything if the problem is truly "sudden" or "unexpected" acceleration. Time will tell, I guess.

little computer that works the accelerator and Cruise Control System, I have confidence they will get it right as they always do, their quality is hard to beat and history shows this

One thing is for sure Bob, I won't be trading in my Mighty Tundra anytime soon for a government own GM HAHAHAHA

Toyota offered more models for trade-in than anybody else, now all of the american gas guzzlers are off the road, we're no longer faced with fuel issues, now its product safety, who can we blame? our government? Obama administration?

floor mats, it's sticking accelerators and brakes started long before the "cash for clunker" program did
I think the gas pedals that are in question are made through a subcontractor right here in America, all the Auto Makers use subcontractors for many of their parts on their new cars and trucks.

That is very possible. It happaned to me several years ago. I pushed on the cruise control button and the car started racing ahead. I turned off cruise control and back to normal. It only happened two times I owned that car. It was a Buick Century. I don't buy imports for me, only american cars. But in the trunk was a sticker with a Canadian flag and something in french "Fabriqu
