Trashy areas and sniper/scorcher coils

Ok, I have been hunting a particular park which has a VERY trashy area. I'm talking 3-4+ hits per swing and targets bunched together.

This spot is near the picnic area, and I have witnessed on occasion the lawnmower man shredding cans left there by littering buttfaces. (I clean these up before my hunt)

The reason I am persistent in this area is because other than the trash, there are lots of great finds there! I just hunt it very slow with the 2500 & stock coil and dig the repeatables.

Now comes the topic of sniper/scorcher coils:

How trashy is too trashy? with 3-4+ hits in a single swing is it still possible to get better results with the sniper?
Is there really a difference between the Ace250 4.5" sniper coil, and the 4.5" GTI Scorcher?
In other words, can I just save a few bucks and throw the Ace sniper on the 2500? Since the Scorcher doesn't have the imaging capability, what other advantage does it really have?

Good questions, I have been pondering the same issues myself and look forward to some sound advice from Uncle Willy and others.

Eeach 4.5" coil was designed for it's specific machine. The ACE 4.5 will not work on the GTI 2500 machine.

The coils are not interchangeable. In that kind of trash the Sniper would excel. Also to improve things with your stock coil try hunting with the coil a couple of inches or so off the ground as this narrows the search pattern and allows you to isolate some targets from the junk. Also scan very slow to catch that hint of a belltone amongst the beeps.

There's a high school in a town nearby that is old and I thought I would try to find where the kids would hang out. Boy, did I find it. I have an Garrett GTA 1000 and have a 4.5" coil for it. Switched from the standard coil tothe 4.5" and had so many targets under the it you couldn't move the coil. Thought about going back with a garden shovel and a sifter. So many kids have been in the area that grass doesn't grow there. If you're concerned about price get a used coil. I bought one used and it was defective. Sent it to Garrett and let them know I bought it used and they still replaced it free. No other manufacturer will do that.
