Treasure Hound

Am new to MDing and I am thinking about getting either the cx plus or the gti 2500 with the deep scan treasure hound as there are a couple big caches I want to look for. Haven't really seen much written up about the treasure Hound and could use some advice. Any input appreciated.

Hi Matt and welcome. I purchased a cx11 in 93, great machine, but have no idea on using the treasure hound. This was one reason I purchased the cx11, deep caches. The dealer that sold me the machine, had used the cx with the treasure hound looking for caches and said he dug up several very deep old dumpsites. He said after that he decided to forget about deep caches. Buried dumpsites are very common in farm states, but if I lived in deserted county, I would have purchased the treasure hound. However, I will say, I still have the old cx11 as one of my backups and it is a great machine.

Welcome to the forum, B.o.l.t.s. and Jerry=Iowa! This is a wonderful community and a great place to share info!:garrett: Feel free to ask for advice at any time!:wiggle:
Hey B.o.l.t.s., if you know of some caches to search for, that Treasure Hound depth multiplier is definitely the tool to use to find 'em!
Jerry=Iowa is right about finding a bunch of deep junk, though. There's no discrimination, so if there is some deeply buried junk/trash metal items, you will pick 'em up(if they are larger than a coke can).
I've dug up a lot of big junk iron pieces, even an old 55 gallon barrell! However if you've got a good idea about where a cache is located, then you've got a good chance of finding it with the Treasure Hound.
The Treasure Hound for the GTI 2500 will not fit the CX Plus and vice versa. They are great for searching for large deeply buried items and they ignore smaller metal items that are smaller than a coke can.
It goes about 3 feet for a soda can. 5 feet for a gallon size target 6-7 feet for an object as big as one meter cube and 20 feet for an automobile size object.
