This link in your brouser should download a test version. Install it like any other program.

1. The add item works. You can add a few items and see what you would change and tell me.

2. The Find Item works up to a point. I just got the Find By routines in but I have not tested them. This version will not change any records I have not got that part done.

3. The Delete works up to a point. I just got the find routines in but I have not tested them. This version will not deleteany records I have not gotten that part done.

Try everything out and tell me what doesn't work or anychanges you would like.

To add an item to the database you have to fill in the Month, Day, Year, Description fields. You can leave the rest blank if you want or fill in how ever many fields you want to but the 4 fields are required.

Do NOT start putting every item you want to. This database is only the beginning and will change before it is done and you will lose everything you have put in. This version is only for you to evaluate and give me feedback on what to change first. Maybe the next version will be set in stone.

I used MS Access. Split the locations and the find descriptive info into separate databases. Use a short key for tieing the location to the description fields in the find file so I don't have to enter the full location description each time. Included country of origin, type (coin, jewelry, toy, etc.) and sub-category fields for easier separation of finds. Now I can extract off data any way I want, create reports, dump it to MS Excel files to sort, list, whatever. Macros and VBA allow unlimited options. Works great so far.

I will be adding some reports at a later time after I get it going.

Thanks

Mike
