Tried a few spots this weekend and found a few keepers.

I tried out a few different spots this weekend and received a few keepers. Would have been nice if I could have gone and checked out a spot I researched this winter but there was Snow still so I had to turn around and hit some other area's I have already detected before. Can't complain though about the finds and it sure was nice to finally get out and pound some ground with the temp's in around 60. There were more finds found by 2 other detectorist's that I was with, Dale and Randy. There was an old Canadian Dime without a date (Victoria), 2 other Barber Dimes, 2 Merc's, 1 Roosevelt, a few other Indians and Wheats and a Buffalo Nickel and 2 Liberty V Nickels found between my hunting partner's. Great Job Guys! Now for what I found. I didn't find too many Silver this weekend but what I did find I am pleased with. I found 1 Washington Quarter dated 1964-d, and 3 Barber Dimes dated 1903,1904, and 1908. So far this year I have only found Barber Dimes for a Silver Dime and hope to continue into next weekend. I also found this weekend 3 Nickels. I found 1 Liberty V Nickel dated 1906, and 2 Jefferson War Nickels dated 1943-p and 1944-d. I also found 5 Indian Heads dated 1887,1899,1901,1903, and 1905. For Wheat Pennies, I found the following dates. 1909,(2)1910,1912,(2)1916,1917,1930,1936,1936-s,1944-d,1958-d, and 2 other Wheat Pennies so badly corroded due to alkali ground that there is no way to see the dates on them. I also found a couple Misc. Items as well but nothing great. I found 1 Token that is a Gaming Token that has No Cash Value on it, a Large Caliber Bullet, and a Key. So this weekend wasn't too bad for finds and I hope to be able to hit some virgin ground in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for looking and Good Luck and HH to you all.:detecting:[attachment 54120 Silver.jpg][attachment 54119 Nickels.jpg][attachment 54116 IndianHeads.jpg][attachment 54115 WheatCents.jpg][attachment 54109 Misc..jpg]

conductive over the weekend after testing a few targets before I dug them. I hunted in conductive and jacked up the gain to 9 and sens to 26 and IM22 on my SE. Yes I got mostly nulling and threshold only every now and then...but I don't think I missed any targets that ferrous would have found. In fact it was the opposite. I had been hunting in ferrous the last few times out and finally did find my first silver coin in ferrous...so I know it works like many say. However this weekend I hunted in conductive and when I got a target I thought was a coin...I then switched to ferrous/AM. On two occasions when I switched to ferrous...I could not get any good sound when I swept over the target. What sound I did get there was no way I would have dug it. There was no high pitch mixed in with low...just a nasty sound I wouldn't have dug. I then switched back to my original conduct settings listed above and the target was the loud and clear flute music. I did get some falsing and lots of nulling during the hunt...but no big deal...as when I got a good target...it just popped right out of the nulling in conduct. From what I'm seeing...whether I'm nulling or not...if there's a good target there...the good flute sounds pops right out og the silence. I'm not ruling AM/ferrous out...but I think I like conductive for now.

to just slow down and take your time. I also run Conduct with an Iron Mask setting of -8, 22 Semi-Auto, and the Gain set at 10 with Fast On Deep Off, which in turn I get a lot of Nulling but I think if one goes slow enough, the user will get most Good Targets if they have enough experience logged in on there Explorer to know what the difference is when passing over Iron and getting a short blip made by a Conductive Item to know that there is in fact a possible Good Target next to Iron. I have dug plenty of Good Targets this year alone with Rusty Nails in the same hole to know that I can still get Coins next or even with Iron Junk. But I am sure Ferrous does have a place and time to be used if one can handle hearing everything that is in the ground. Spots that are just a Solid Null would be the Ideal Spot for Ferrous All-Metal Use but for you everyday use at a Park or other area with only a medium amount of Iron, I say Conduct first and Ferrous All-Metal second. Good Luck and HH.
