Tried an Explorer SE yesterday...

Just some general obervations as it was much too hot to really hunt..
I have tried the XS and 11 and don't know what the weight difference is but SE a heck of a lot easier to swing, I think the weight and makeup of the new slimline coil certainly has something to do with it.
I like the menu setup better, screen just appears easier to see and digital screen setup is a step up for sure.
Read so much about them being oversensitive, well SE just handles my ground better than previous models I have used. Your neck of the woods may differ.
Yep sure is a faster machine and feel it will take a faster swing to cover more ground.
Actually in old cowboy movies good guys wore white hats and bad guys black hats, but the all black unit looked great to me..
Probably best improvement is the pinpoint for those guys that could never get the old pinpoint down..I learned the old way well and did it both ways SE pinpoint was much faster and all targets were right in middle of hole..
Is it the best thing since sliced bread perhaps not but I can see Minelab has further improved an already excellent unit.
I am sure it will only get better with time and a tip of the hat to Minelab for an excellent unit...

Good to hear you got a chance to try one and I feel what you say is true for me too. I like the SE better than the others as it is faster responding plus that pitch hold to hear the weaker targets for me. I did find on my SE the pinpointing seem back a little more to the center than the other Explorers too. On some of the test we have done comparing the SE and the II the SE seems to give a better and a little louder response on some deep targets over the II.

Good luck with your SE Dan.

and I believe you, but how can it get better than the XS?- The XS just amazes every time out, I love that machine. 5 years for me now and the machine runs like a top. If it ever breaks I will buy an SE.

Which makes it a nice a more pleasurable experience as you can get between the trash better than with the xs and 2 explorers. SE Works that much better ........

And good luck with your XS....just my feelings on an improved unit that realy impressed me with its improvements...
