Tried Bill's pulltab trick today......

I was in the Coins mode because it was trashy. Worked great on a lot of coins and was fun learning something new about my Ace. Wish I had a list of Ace tricks. Found it failed the test on a dime that was on edge at 3" and a zincer. Had to trust the repeatability of the Ace to get these coins. What was interesting is that some of the trash ID'ed correctly after using it. Sort of like a backwards "twitching" The big trash targets would go from "dime" reading to the bottom of the scale.The nickels failed the test. I know from experimenting in the 80's with something similar (bobbing the coil straight up and down over the target) that you can get better results in a lower discrimination setting. My next experiment will be in Jewelry mode. It worked on a dime at 4" and the quarters went beserk.

Sometimes it's tricky on dimes as they are too close to the size of tabs. It really sounds off on quarters as you stated.

You should hear it when it hits our loonies and toonies!!! Talk about pings tings bangs pongs ding dang and everything else the machine can scream out at you!! same with our dimes here in Canehda. loonies=$1 twoonies=$2. It really depends on the coin and how long the coin has been in the ground. My first time out this past spring time I got a beautiful sound on a gold ring and a silver ring!!
