Trip back to the beach.......!

Hello all. We went back to the same beach where we detected last week, and once again were very pleased with our finds. The weather was icy cold, windy, and some of the sand washed from the dunes onto the sand below, and buried the targets deeper. Most targets were dug at around 8 to 18 inches deep, and some of the pre-decimals coins gave very iffy signals indeed. There were a few surfies out on the waves, the occasional beach walk with his dog, but, other than that, we had the beach to ourselves. We going to keep an eye on waether conditions and hope it blows up a storm again, then we'll go back. picked up a few silver pendants, and a heap of the usual sinkers. My bucket of sinkers on the shed is almost full!

Hi Ken. Not as good as I'd like them to. The silver is very hard to clean with all the green stuck on crud. I only use WD40 and a medium strength toothbrush. But I have found by soaking the coins in WD40 for a day or so, in places it gets into the dirt and loosens it. I should probably soak them for longer, to get a better result. But with one of the florins on this post, I just can't budge the dirt.

Try the electrolysis method. I know your nervous about it, but maybe it could clear the rest of the crud off. Forgive me Golden, I know you know what's safe. I'm just throwing my two cents in. Marc.

JT, I love that picture of that wild looking guy you have there. Looks like an old photo of some kind. Love it. Marc.
