triple lead for charging

My original triple lead stopped charging anything after not a lot of work, and the end result is the plug pack get very hot. Purchased a XP car charging kit really just to get a replacement triple lead and that one has failed after a few charge cycles.
Back to using the single lead for charging and not willing to go down the triple lead route again but just wondering if there is a more reliable triple lead aftermarket option.

Sounds like you are drawing too much current. Have you tried all three hooked up to a USB port on your computer? It is lower amperage. Also check to make sure there is no debris in the connections. Or maybe only charge two at a time and see if you can isolate one that is drawing more current.

Will give the usb outlet of the laptop a try but none of the three leads will charge, sometimes if one lead is moved around a bit it will make a contact for a short while. The overheating of the plug pack only happens when a coil or control is connected to recharge but the recharging is not happening. Single leads are more reliable and I have several of the right type from hand held GPS units anyway.

Newest lead is completely dead, no amount of positioning the leads starts the charging on anything connected. Original triple lead will charge if the single wire is pushed in the direction of the 3 way junction and held there. Leads were both loosely coiled after the limited amount times they were used before failing.

John it sounds like the plug pack is causing you grief and maybe not the cables, and the heat issue may be a good indicator of that. I currently run both the original triple lead and an aftermarket ebay four lead cable for a couple of years with no issues, and that is using a variety of USB power packs of varying amperage, plus a 12volt cigarette lighter charger for charging in the field.

Did you mention that the car charger also caused a cable to fail as well?

Haven't actually used the car charger Chris, Deus plug pack works fine with single lead. Triple leads will not work in a phone charger or usb outlet on laptop. I fell there is a quality control issue with the triple leads unless I can be convinced otherwise. No warranty on them either and they failed very quickly.

That should work. Sounds like you have some loose wires inside the three-wire. Could have had too much stress--got pulled too hard. Very thin wires. Cell phone charges are notorious for this problem.

The same has happened to all of us, (or it will eventually). After (2) OEM charging Clips and (2) triple charge wires, I put up the suggestion to use the 4 port USB hub w/ thicker single chargers. Works well, but needed something for the field. On flea-bay there was a 4-in-1 cable (from the UK) but would not ship to the US. Tried Ali-baba but that was a nightmare as well as locally to a few cable mfg. co's. How hard could this be? Ended up with a nice triple cable from a Russian at 1/3 the cost of OEM and free shipping. No regrets with this since it IS a thicker gauge wire. I will not be buying the above OEM's until they redesign and convince its customers that they not capitalizing on crap. BTW, see this link for a solid charging clip. Brilliant design and like I said...No regrets! Cheers M8

how long are the triple leads on this one? I think I got these ones once and they are thicker wire but too short. I found one once on that site and the leads were real nice and long and it made things easier.

how long are the leads on this one from that site? I went there and looked but they don't say. thanks

Just measured and it's 40" compared to the OEM's 39". (That's overall length). From the triple split it's 10"...same as OEM. I disconnect the lower shaft and have no problems charging all 3 in close proximity. Hope that helps.
