Trouble returns.

I had trouble with a large and constant amount of chatter. Sent the machine in for repair and it came back good as new. It worked perfectly, I guess, for weeks. After discovering the ground was too hard at a spot on Saturday a hunting buddy suggested the beach. Memorial Day weekend we thought there would be something to find. It was very crowded and difficult to hunt so we only stayed about 30 minutes. Of that I barely got the coil wet and stayed in dry sand mostly.

The next day, after hunting for a few hours I returned to a school, but a new spot at the school. Started out OK, but then began getting a lot of chatter. I thought it must be the spot, so I moved to the back with the buddy. I've hunted this area many times without trouble, but got chatter this time, for a little bit. It then disappeared.

Went to the beach today and started out fine, but a few minutes into hunting the chatter returned, and continued for about an hour before disappearing.

Guess I call Garrett, again.

I have the same problem sometimes. The other day I noticed the chatter was slowly starting to build up. I realized I was almost underneath a power line, so figured that was causing it. I moved way out into the open, which I have hunted many times, but the chatter didn't stop. Turn off the machine, factory reset....it just chatters as long as it wants, and then it's ok again. It only happens to me once in a blue moon, but when it does it's very annoying. It's like the EMI scrambles the detector's brain, and it takes a while to snap out of it.

I am having that problem now. Before I had sent it in it would chatter none stop, all the time.

Hello, I think that when you squeeze and loosen "B" on "D" moorings "D" and "E" are loosened so that "F" turn on itself and cables "G" and "H" are shorted.
I'm convinced of it. This is what I observe on my machine when I kept talking. Zero cost was repaired by the dealer.
a greeting

It could be the cable or connector, but I haven't changed coils or adjusted the cable, before or after, it started.

Mine had that problem when I turned the sensitivity up,until I (re routed the cable). It run so quiet now that I have to check to make sure it's still turned on. I ran the cable straight up to the locking collar, then started wrapping it around the shaft.

I didn't have my cable wrapped around the shaft tight enough to cause any tension on the connectors. I think I'll check the connectors to see if it could be something with them though.

Mine went chattery at a spot i've hunted many times. Changed batteries and it was good again. I've heard stories that low batteries would cause this. I'm not sure, but it works now. weak batteries can start out good working fine then loose power after a short time.Just a thought.

Well, my batteries show three bars. But even so, the machine is erratic, chatter, not chatter, then chatter, at not particular interval. You can't predict when it will chatter. Today it chatter es and I set it down to dig a target. When I picked it up it was so quite I thought I had turned it off, but hadn't.

Just an idea::: You might want to give Garrett a call. They might be able to guide you pretty quickly in the right direction without a lot of brain drain. They are sure great to work with. Just an idea.

Did that before. Had to send it in and it came back working great. Just hate to send it in again nad be without for a wek and a half. Loking here to see if it is something that I may have or am doing to cause the chatter.
