tweaking of compass machines

Few years ago when there was still a compass forum on the TD, some people got their compass machines tweaked for more depth.
I wonder if it would affect the smootness of operation and the excellent discriminating capabilities.

I saw your two posts regarding Compass mods and coil mods and I would like to refer you to Keith Wills at broken detector.com. He can answer all your Compass questions and build you any configuration coil you desire. He is very knowledgeable and a great guy, one of the "giants" of our hobby. Best wishes.
