Earlier this week I had my first decent finds; I,m relatively new to using my Deus. It started to rain and I put my control unit in my pocket and went sounds only. I was running in GM Power with manual GB. The cuff flat button (it has a slight image of a flower in gold on it face) came the first day after only ten minutes; the rain became so bad I had to run for cover. The two Civil War tokens were recovered the second day after only a 15 minute hunt, it was after work and the black-flies were so bad I was heading in when I got a great sound. I cut a hole and the target was not in the plug, but deeper in the ground. I was thinking this was a deep indian head penny. I dug deeper and the two coin sized objects were right next to each other in the new soil I had taken out of the ground. When I got home I thought I had two more indian head pennies but to my surprise I could not see any of the normal markings. After some cleaning and research I discovered what they were and their significance in history (private companies started producing their own currency in 1863 due to the lack of currency being produced by the federal government. In 1864 this private production of currency was prohibited). All of the recoveries were in a spot I had detected with many other detecters through the years. I love the clean sounds and adjustable speed of the XP Deus.
