Two gold rings in one week

Well I havn't posted for a while,have been busy at work etc,but I have been managing to get out MDing for a few hours at a time
and putting all the goodies in a bag today I sorted them out alittle.Our beaches have been packed as we are having brilliant weather,and our
population multiplies this time of the year.
I have been finding lots of cheap kids jewellery and lots of coins,Two very nice gold rings (I need to get a good camera).It looks like one is 975
the other I can't read (old eyes I also need a magnifying glass) .However they passed the wife inspection........thanks jim

Hi Jim

Congratulations on the rings.
You have got me stumped on that 975 ring
...I don't know any gold stamps with 975 on them
9k = 375, 14k = 585, 18k = 750, 22k = 916, 24k = 999 or 999.9

of course sterling silver is stamped 925
I have seen 925 silver rings plated gold.

Anyway mate, keep up the good work on the ring finding.

Hi Terra,you are absolutally right I brought a better magnifying glass today,one ring has 375,the other has the letters 158 with E & W inside a small square and the letters18 along with other figures that are hard to read,hope this helps.
Does that meant has a value or is it junk.....cheers jim

Hi Jim, looks like you've been having a good time. As Terra said 375 is 9 carat (or karat); look near the 18 on the other ring and see if you can make out a ct or CT (both short for carat) or a k (for karat)...what I'm sayig is that it could well be an 18 carat gold ring.
