I'm VERY new at it but have been working with Gerry's detectors in his training program and I have learned a lot. Still haven't found anything BUT,,,, I plan on it. There are a lot of good resources online for research.

I went out with guys who had specialized detectors for gold while I didn't. Took my Fisher 1266. They dug some nuggets and I didn't. I wasn't surprised, didn't plan on going for nuggets much so didn't buy a nugget machine.
I know one guy here who goes to the gold fields ( an hour away) and frequently digs some.

Here's a good luck story. My friend & I were out in the gold areas and hadn't dug much all day. We were walking back to the truck and mildly swinging along the dirt road when he gets a signal & pulls up a nice nugget!
Good luck on your hunts, Steve in so az

This past summer I was detecting & digging in one of our local parks. Two ladies. out for a stroll. wandered by and ask what I was searching for and I said, "Gold! They quickly responded with, "You're not digging deep enough - that's in Fort Knox"! Ironically I did find the gold but it came in the form of a ladies ring. So much for prospecting.

I did find a decent nugget with my water machine! I hope to try some someday!
