That does sounds like an addictive kind of problem seriously.
I maybe am not one to talk. I've had a number of detectors from most of the big names - Minelab, Teknetics, Whites, Fisher, and currently a Tesoro Cortes. Only big brand I've never owned is Garrett though I do have one of their pinpointers.
I have to say I can understand liking Tesoros. I never used to give them much though to be honest, but I always liked the concept of the Cortes, though to be completely honest I'd prefer the ground balance worked in discrimination mode as well as all metal, and in a "perfect world" I'd like tor high conductors to be differentiated a bit more than the 95 they all read now but that's minor. The coil selection is great, ergonomics are terrific, battery life very good, and to be honest, it just works. I took it to a local park, not expecting much living in a big city, and first time there, the Cortes pulls out two wheats reasonably deep with no junk. I had to leave after 20 minutes because the mosquitos were just eating me alive, but that told me all I needed to know right there (good machine). The lifetime warranty can't be beaten. Reading from you guys how good the Golden is at pulling jewelry is enough to get a person on the kick.
I'm not sure what detector I'm going to buy for 2013 yet. I was considering a Bliss, but they are hard to get, and who knows what the support will be like. Also a Deus, but have read they don't ID well at depth (not much does though). Also considered a V3i, and Tek Omega or T2 SE. The ONLY brand I'm not really looking at anymore is Minelab. But I keep coming back to thinking I'll go with an Outlaw due to the ground balance control working in disc as well as all metal, and that for the stuff I hunt for target ID isn't that important anyway. Anyway, Tesoro is in the running. They are nice machines even if the technology isn't state of the art like some of the other brands. I learned with IPhone 5 that state of the art is not always better - I have to leave that thing plugged in all the time or the battery drains like crazy. Honestly I wish I'd gone with the Samsung phone but it's water over the dam, but if Apple doesn't fix it, I may just ditch that and go with the Galaxy.
So long story short does sound like addiction, probably be better to address it, but you could be addicted to worse things than this.
