I don;t know whats wrong with me. i go through detectors like water or something... Tesoro are the worst, If I don't have one I get to thinking ,its almost like withdrawals. And today is especially real bad got a brand new Cibola coming along with the xtra 5.75 concentric coil. I should be happy estatic right BUT NO !!!! I have to go on Fleasbay and see a Toltec II. ...next thing you know I'm surfing on the net and findmall on the Toltec II. And before you know it bingo Man is my wife going to kill me when she see's the bank statement. Do you think the Christmass present I got her will help.? Please don't tell me how many detectors i've owned then I will really be sick.....:nopity:

Woodchuck. I hope you have fixed the dog house up nice with a heater, running water and a nice comfy bed. Lol. You have depleted the water source. It is time to quit searching the classifieds and eBay. I saw one I have been searching for a while for on eBay. I was almost ready to sell my really nice Bandido II Umax to get it. I still want it. The classifieds are death in a nice package. Good luck. Hopefully she sees it after giving you the green light to go detecting. HH

Good for you woodchuck.I see you have had alot of detectors. Why do you like Tesoro? The light weight, the sensitivity ,the coil selection.Or they just seem more fun?I got three Tesoro's,and i want more. This is what we like.New detectors and the next place to hunt.We may not find much, but we sure keep the metal detector industry going.Hope to see some stuff you find.Or if you find more detectors, let us know.Merry Christmas. :-D

My problem is that I want to sample all makes and models of detectors to see which ones I like the best. The problem with Tesoro detectors, I like them all so much that I can't seem to bring myself to part with them.

I have owned about 100 detectors over 30 years. It IS a PROBLEM! I had to get it through my head that its NOT THE DETECTOR, IT'S THE DETECTER! The itch is STILL there and hard to fight. But whenever I think back to the days of my CZ-5 and what I thought a great machine SHOULD have found, and realized that most of my finds were only a few inches deep, I hug my little Compadre, breathe a sigh of relief with my Ace when trash gets tough, and still look at my other 3 detectors which MIGHT get a days work, I'm thankful to be off the habit.

That does sounds like an addictive kind of problem seriously.

I maybe am not one to talk. I've had a number of detectors from most of the big names - Minelab, Teknetics, Whites, Fisher, and currently a Tesoro Cortes. Only big brand I've never owned is Garrett though I do have one of their pinpointers.

I have to say I can understand liking Tesoros. I never used to give them much though to be honest, but I always liked the concept of the Cortes, though to be completely honest I'd prefer the ground balance worked in discrimination mode as well as all metal, and in a "perfect world" I'd like tor high conductors to be differentiated a bit more than the 95 they all read now but that's minor. The coil selection is great, ergonomics are terrific, battery life very good, and to be honest, it just works. I took it to a local park, not expecting much living in a big city, and first time there, the Cortes pulls out two wheats reasonably deep with no junk. I had to leave after 20 minutes because the mosquitos were just eating me alive, but that told me all I needed to know right there (good machine). The lifetime warranty can't be beaten. Reading from you guys how good the Golden is at pulling jewelry is enough to get a person on the kick.

I'm not sure what detector I'm going to buy for 2013 yet. I was considering a Bliss, but they are hard to get, and who knows what the support will be like. Also a Deus, but have read they don't ID well at depth (not much does though). Also considered a V3i, and Tek Omega or T2 SE. The ONLY brand I'm not really looking at anymore is Minelab. But I keep coming back to thinking I'll go with an Outlaw due to the ground balance control working in disc as well as all metal, and that for the stuff I hunt for target ID isn't that important anyway. Anyway, Tesoro is in the running. They are nice machines even if the technology isn't state of the art like some of the other brands. I learned with IPhone 5 that state of the art is not always better - I have to leave that thing plugged in all the time or the battery drains like crazy. Honestly I wish I'd gone with the Samsung phone but it's water over the dam, but if Apple doesn't fix it, I may just ditch that and go with the Galaxy.

So long story short does sound like addiction, probably be better to address it, but you could be addicted to worse things than this.

Well, a buddy of mine has over 70 fishing rods, which is about right for the average guy, Tell your wife detectors are like golf clubs...you need a different one for the given situation, even though we all know you could play a course with a driver, a 7 iron, and a putter. At least you are buying these things right so for resale, its an investment that probably outperforms a 401k! Glad to help!

Man am I glad I don't have that disease . Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

Don't feel to bad my garage is ready to pop!!!...way to many(getting closer to triple numbers)........but it is way to much fun to go out and grab one to play with!!!!!!!!.....................Did you hear about the new Tesoro meter unit?...................................................................................................................................................................Just kidding!!!!!!!

Luckily for me, I'm not technically or auditorily gifted to even attempt to learn something new. Ok, so I have three, but ones busted, so two then that work...
and I've only been in this for a few years too, so thats good, realistically I COULD get by with one, but for sure I dont think I could get by without any, even for a week would be tough! So a guy really needs a backup..then the backup needs a backup and so on and so forth! This is one great sport/addiction!

LOL. Where's there's one, now there's three.........................and four.
Best of all Tesoros don't take up a lot of room, can be easily hid from view and you can afford to one more than one............
Blame it on Skiwhiz, he spikes the milk you drink.

So you finally found a Toltec II.....................enjoy. That night light in the meter comes in handy.
Some how I ended up with four Tesoro II series detectors.....Amigo, Toltec, Bandido and now a Cutlass.
That's it I quit, no more. I do have an excuse why I bought the Cutlass, I wanted the 7" coil it came with.
Merry Christmas

I know how you feel. I've only been at this sport for a few months, already have two Tesoros, and I'm always cruzing the online sites looking for another one!

Well it comes down to anything worth having is worth having two (or more) of. This applies to fishing poles, deer rifles, and metal detectors as well as numerous other possibilities. It may be a sort of fixation, but not a bad problem IMHO.

Building My Arsenal back Up next one on My list is a Compadre Have a Sidewinder Umax would love to find a Toltec II myself But they are scarcer than Hens teeth!

JEEZ GUYS !!! don't get me going about fishing equipment and fishing ,I think thats why my first marriage went down drain.Mascard 1 you had me going for a moment LOL...BaryL I didn't know hens had teeth!!! I use to raise chickens too....So ask me how many fishing lures I own LOL:rofl:....MERRY CHRISTMAS YA ALL!!!!

That merry old sole Monte has said it a thousand times - THERE'S NO PERFECT DETECTOR - but it's clear that none of us really believe him, as we're continuously on the look-out for that next best thing. Unfortunately, fractured marriages and empty pocketbooks are the collateral damage that ensues.

Cheers!

Package them all up..send them to me.... You will start to feel better the minute you drop off at Post Office..When I confirm their here..You will be CURED !!!..........

I know it will be tough on "ME" ..But..I will bear the burden for my Fellow detectorist ....................
