Just tested out my goldquest Ss /beachscan mk2 on folly beach sc its the first time since buying it that I have been able to test it at the beach
The detector was just noisy every time I would swing I would get a false signal on both right And left swing
I made sure the coil was level, fresh battery's ,threshold was very unstable .I adjusted the SAT up and down with no or little change with the false signal noise
I could tell the difference between a real signal and the false signal noise
I did dig tons off targets but the noise is very annoying and you really can't tell when you have a deep signal with the threshold unstable like it was
Any help would be appreciated
Oh I have the 11 in coil

Did you try raising the pulse delay?

On some of my machines I will get some noise or false signal at one end of the swing, but not usually both.

Are you on the edge of the wet sand. It will false if you are on a transition between 2 types of ground.

Try walking toward and away from the waters edge and not along side it, so when you swing the ground under the coil should be pretty consistant.

See if that helps.

So maybe I should clarify some of my first post .I only recieved false signaling on both right and left swing only in the water .I did receive false signals on the water side when swinging on the wet sand .I did adjust the SAT control from min to high in 1/8 intervals to quiet the noise up so
Some times it would work and sometimes not .I can deal with the false signaling but the threshold is not smooth and that is what is bothering me .I guess I expect it to be smooth like my vlf machines. I will try it again the next chance I can .I think I found all the iron on folly beach or most of it .I did find a 925 sterling chain and a really nice brass ring but I think the most intersting find was 2 50 caliber shell cases and 1 spent round
Thanks for the input it's always appreciated
I will post Pics on the beach forum once I get the time

Hi

the threshold should be just audible
often set too high
to set the sat to race before turning over and played later

often the wrong signals to the right or left are due to the coil which is
it has remained well Parallel to the ground, I noticed on my ssv3

ascended the delay as a last resort

iron gives a very special high tone, it is best to take a small gold ring
1 or 2 gr attached to a fishing line
and do some tests on your beach

GoldQuest are the best, know the gold cries of gold :detecting:

for fun, two 50 point out on the beach, away from the coast (in France)
plane probably, dating from 1942
