UNUSED BATTERY STORAGE

When I purchased my TDI I received two batteries with the package. As I only use one battery most of the time ( 4 hours of TDI humming in my ear and I an hypnotised ) should I for extended battery life;
* Store the second battery fully charged?
* Alternate the use of the two batteries?
* Or discharge and store the second battery?
 
I would say that the second choice is best as batteries of this type like to be worked. Choice three is not good. Choice one is OK but the battery will self discharge over a period of time and will need to be checked occasionally and maybe given a booster charge.
