Well it has been some time between posts, So Let me start out by saying Congrats to everyone on the past year or so of hunting! There have been some great finds posted on here and I have seen most of them But Just can't find the time to Post to them all!
To also put to Rest the "UN-TRUTHS" that Big Mike and I Have been Killed in the GHETTO Parks and that is why we do not post any more! Ha!
As a Matter of FACT that is where This Friday I made my second Gold coin find in Over 30 years! It was stuck in the hole with a 1853 Seated Quater![attachment 19216 0-2-24-06seatedface1853.jpg][attachment 19217 0seatedrear1853.jpg] It is a 1849 1$ Gold piece ![attachment 19214 0-1849Goldface.jpg][attachment 19215 0-1849GoldRear.jpg] We had Been hunting most of the day Friday when I got the signal,It hit solid all the way around but was Jumping from Dime to Indian Range! Most of the coins we have been finding as of late have been More than 1 in the hole sometimes 3 or 4 different types of coin! I Guess that is why they are still there because of the jumppy hits they give off!

The Coin was only about 6 Inches down,When I pulled the clot of dirt out of the hole I could see the edge of the Quarter sticking out of the dirt So I put down my machine and walked over to Tom to ask him what He thought it was! Maybe a Standing Liberty? Or Maybe a Nice Barber?
Well I broke off the clump of dirt and could see the Eagle on the back and Told Tom "IT IS SEATED"!!!!
At that time I still had not seen what was sticking out of the clump of dirt I had Removed from the coin, It was not till I turned the coin over to Brake the dirt off the front that I saw Just a GLeem of GOLD!
In all Truth the first words out of my Mouth was PullTab I think!
Then I saw the Edge of the coin!
No more Dirt was Removed untill the Rest of the Hunting Party was Rounded up for the Dirt Peel that was going to take place!
Dang I didn't even tell you guys that there where 3 other hunters with me from the GREAT WHITE NORTH ! Yes the OUTDOOR OUTFITTERS Guys are down for the weekend to RAID our parks ! That day Tom,Mike, and Jim where there with me!
Jim was the first to arrive for the dirt peel and begain to Shout ITS GOLD!!!!!!! ITS GOLD!!!!!! I thought we where going to have to GAG him at this point to get out of there with the coin!
Today we where Back in the Ghetto Finding more goodies this time with More guys from Ohio! So that Made 6 of us and I think most everyone was finding Silver of some kind! I got the 1917-S type 2 Standing Liberty Today[attachment 19218 0-2-25-06face1917-sQuarter.jpg][attachment 19219 0-2-25-06rear1917quarter.jpg] at about 7 Inches ! It rang out Loud and Clear! Sometimes they just get missed I guess! Also got a wore out 1888 Seated dime, 2 mercs ,10 Wheats ,6 Indians and lots of Nick Nacks!Sorry for the long post so Here are the pics Of the GOOD stuff!
We are back out after them in the morning at the Ghetto this time I think we will have 9 guys! I will take some group Pics and maybe a Group Pic of all of are finds!

Absolutely fantastic finds on all 3 of them. Must have been some kind of hunt site to all walk away with that sort of treasure. Congratulations and hope you find another one in there.

Congrats Jim!! Great finds, especially the gold coin! I remember when I found mine back in 1993. No coin find compares with that feeling when a gold coin is found!

:clap:WTG Jim!!!!!

Hope I make a good find like that when I get going in the spring. Still lotsa white stuff. I still remember the good times we had huntin' a few years ago (when Mike found the 20c Piece). Look forward to doing it again some time soon.

I am planning on going to Active Duty with the Army. That year in Iraq made me realize why I've hated doing the 9 to 5 civilian gig and been miserable the last 10 years. Of course the 13 years I was active before was in the Marine Corps but ya can't have everything I guess. Anyway, I metion this because I am in the Engineers and if this happens I plan on going to Ft Lost-In-The-Woods, MO (aka Ft Leonard Wood) so I'll just be a hop skip and a jump away...way closer than Michigan anyway. I'll keep you posted as I learn more.

Great finds again
