Update , F75LTD Looses the display

My F75 LTD while detecting the screen goes blank with the exception of the Batt. Ind. or if you hold it up straight out. Now if your sweeping and go over a target it comes right back or if you touch to controls or ADJ. the setting it will come back but then when you start sweeping again it will disappear. Now I posted this on a few forums and everyone says there display never goes away its there all the time . Fisher is telling me that's normal (a sleep mode), I'm saying it isn't. I ask them if there was some kind of "HOT KEY" setting that you could turn it on or off that we don't know about as users , he said all F75 work that way, the tech keeps saying the display is there when he goes to etc.etc and i'm telling thats right but don't do anything just sweep without a signal and it will go blank. Anyone have any ideas about this problem, this is the forth time this detector has gone back. just a couple of months ago it was sent back for a loose display cover and that's when this problem seemed to start. Hope Tom D's looking, his advice helped me before. needs some info cause the detector is still at Fisher.

but only if your arent getting any signals at all. Get a signal of any sort, and its there. If i'm in a real quiet field, and the machine is set up to be quiet (no falses), the screen will do exactly as you say your's does.
Thats not to say that you dont have a problem.....I'm just sayin that fisher is right on the sleep more. Does the machine work good otherwise? does the display work when you get a signal? If so, then its probably ok.
Now, just to clarify, you dont lose the WHOLE display do you? You just lose the VDI right?

ok digger, everything is gone except the battery meter, and it seems to be working ok but, one tech says sleep mode the other tech say no such thing. now if your is silent you still have setting indicators, Tone Notch dIsc, all metals, thres., etc I don't have any of that. I'd take a pic (which I should have done) but I don't have it here.

Well I don't have an F75 but I'm real doubtful of a detector going into sleep mode while you detecting with it.
I sent WV62 an email so give him a little bit and he can at lest confirm the problem or not.

I'm thinking the electronics are confused (not sure what else to call it) and needs to be reset.

I agree never heard of a sleep mode, but I did have an audio cut on my 555-D when the detector was in horiz. postion the audio would cut out but no "SLEEP".

Sounds like a description of an F75 display doing what it's supposed to do, which is to stop displaying information that's no longer valid. Battery condition display is always valid and therefore doesn't blank out.

I saw a post where someone was thinking that the machine was going into some kind of sleep mode. Nope, this is just about the display, the machine keeps looking for targets and for user interface activity and when there's something new to display the new information pops up on the screen.

Yes , I understand what your saying, but when its not active as for a target or ADJ nothing is on the screen...........except the Batt. meter

I have never seen mine go blank. Would it help if I powered mine up tomorrow outside and see if I can get it to go blank. It is my understanding that if I power it up and just hold it straight with the coil say waste high and don't move it and it should go blank right?

I would try it in the house but I have tried air testing and it for sure does not go blank inside.

What do you think.

Anybody else out there want to try and make theirs go blank?

We are very fortunate to have you explain things to us. "Awesome" that the company Engineer would personally contribute so much to the Product End users.. Thank You Sir !.

Now we all know !.It goes blank after a certain length of time of no Valid renewal of ground, and or target info............once New Valid info feeds into the computer chip..new current information displays on the screen.

Battery meter always displays the battery status while machine is on.. Pretty nifty if you ask me............... Would I be correct that this is part of the sample process incorporated in the F75 function ?.

Also does it when normally sweeping and not hitting any targets or making adjustments.

No Elton that wrong , then make yours go blank. you'l still have menu items...

Also elton look back at the previous post when I asked this a month or so ago and all the responses said theres never go blank...

Mine has never done that. Even if there's no signal around and there is no Vdi, (gone for a very short second), there is still the battery meter, the Fe3O4, conf, depth bars, always doing something, etc. Maybe im never in a sterile enough environment, etc, thanks, CO.

Dave J is right-sounds like a properly functioning F75. If you run a high sensitivity it will never go blank because it lights up whenever it makes a peep. If you turn your sensitivity down and it hits a target after about 3 seconds it clears except for the battery bars.
Many like to run a high sensitivity so it rarely will go blank.

Well thank you OSGOOD thats what I was trying to get across Thanks again..

Is this what you are talking about?

Notice that in the right hand pic, the display is still displaying the things that are still valid: last menu item (i.e. your default return point), the notch settings, and battery condition. There is no signal dependent data displayed because no signals strong enough to produce data are being detected.

Ok Dan I see what you mean I get the left side with a target or ADJ, but i get nothing but the batt meter without the ID no words, boxes, graphs, at all. I'll edit the pic WV post and repost it. Thanks for the pic WV.

Ok heres the update pic WV sent me
