Upgrade from F4

Hmm. As I recall the F4 was no slouch in the depth department.

As a metal detector addict, I can fully understand the need to purchase another detector, but the differences in depth between them all, may surprise you. :)

F70 or the Omega are not a bad deal.

I sent you a PM. Your decision should be based on what type of hunting you do. If you're in fields or the woods looking for relics, you're on the right track. If you're on turf (community gathering places or homes) or sand, you might want to do some more research.

Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for your input. I'm going to wait a while and do some more research before I decide if I really want to try another machine.

I bought an F4 earlier in the year and made many "first" finds for me. Particularly the large cents, and civil war tokens. I went back to the same site with the F70 I bought, and over those same spots without any new significant finds. I was amazed at the smaller stuff at deeper levels I was finding mostly of iron origins. Im not done checking areas adjacent to those with the F70. I have redone other areas however in the city, and found deeper coins the F4 missed. In short I agree the F4 is really a good machine, but for now the F 70 is my favorite. It is consistantly finding older (deeper) stuff. While I am getting rid of some of my other machines, I am definately keeping the F4 though as a backup, and for my wife and kids to use. They both can take a beating, thats for sure.
