my cam lock on upper shaft will not lock in place.does anyone know if its possible to replace just the cam lock or do i need to replace the whole shaft.ty jon

Yes, it is possible to replace the Camlock. I don't know if a person can order one from Minelab or if you would need to send it in and have Minelab replace it for you. You may have to do some checking around with Minelab or a Minelab Dealer. Good Luck and HH. One quick question. Is the Upper Shaft worn on the top, in other words, is there paint worn off of the Shaft? If there is, then your Camlock is working fine and all you have to do is take electrical tape and put 3 pieces side by side from the top down, starting from one side of the Shaft over the top to the other side. Do not do the bottom since this will be too much of a shim and you will not be able to get the Upper Shaft to go back into the Control Box. You could also spray paint the worn spot a bit and this would fix it if this is your problem. Hope this helps out a bit and Good Luck and HH.

If its the cam lock on the upper shaft. My Dealer has a bucket with an assortment of upper and lower shafts in shop. Maybe yours has some too.

Now is the the cam lock on the upper shaft itself, or is it the one on the head to hold the upper shaft in place. If it is the one that is on the shaft itself then just get another upper shaft, but if it is a XS or if you have a X1 probe on it then you will have to buy a used shaft and switch the cam lock from one to the other. Minelab don't have these little locking pieces, or wont let them go out as I have ask for them to have some in stock before and told they are not available. I have replaced a few and you just got to drive out the brass pin and the old cam lock will slide out and a new one in.
Like James says if it is just sliding out or the paint is wore off you may just need to shim it a little.
