:usaflag: My Ace 250 and I just got in from a two hour aimless stroll on the dry sand part of our local beach!:detecting:

When all the fog finally burned off and the breeze died down we started to have what promised to be a fine afternoon!

After I finished with my work obligations for the day, I headed down to the beach I wrote about a couple of weeks ago where the iron and nails were driving me up the wall.

I casually wandered toward the water and then angled back toward the side away from the water in an attempt to determine what the beach sweeper had done to the surface and what might be lying just beneath it.

Three dimes, all clad

One nickle

Three quarters

one penny

one wheat penny

four zinc pennies

and one 1938 Mercury Dime (in nice condition)

I wasn't able to avoid all iron, but it was quickly evident to me when the response was a nail or iron or a pull tab (Most of the time!!)

I found that when the dimes and pennies were shallow they caused the machine to signal with a rapid staccato bell tone, but the id was bouncing from the penny to dime positions.

A deep penny would sometimes register as a half dollar or dollar!

I was running in "coin" mode and sensitivity at 4 to 5.

I am using the 9X12 coil and the only problems I had were when the iron bits and nails were all over the place.

The smaller coils might help separate the targets better!

All in all an enjoyable stroll!!

WTG!:super:Congrats on the silver!:thumbup:and the wheatie. That just goes to show ya', where there's wheats there's silver! Nice hunt, buddy! That Ace is really a coin magnet! I'm glad you picked one up! Now go get some gold with that Infinium!:biggrin:Best of luck to ya'. Happy Hunting!:)

Thanks Fellow Hunters,

I guess if I spent my time looking back to the days 25 or so years ago when I used to think of silver in "pounds of" terms, I probably wouldn't much care about a wheatie or Merc one way or the other.

These days it's nice to be learning a new machine and pick up an occasional silver andd I look forward to doing it again!

CJ
