The water was calm with a very gentle swell occasionally desturbing the stillness.

Even though the moon phase kept the water from dropping as much as I would like, I decided to see what I might find with my Dual Field in the areas where the sand hasn't buried everything yet.

Four and a half hours of bobbing around as the swells lifted me in my dry suit and struggling to dig the few signals I did find resulted in a typical collection of sinkers, pop tops, odd bits of metal and bottle tops plus a few coins.

A couple of the coins may be silver, but I haven't chipped off the corrosion yet to find out.

In one place the sand wasn't too deep and I found the 14K wedding band (either a small man's or a woman's) only 10 feet or so from the water's edge and just before I gave up (about a 1/4 mile farther along the beach) due to rising water and being tired from hours of hard digging while struggling to stay afoot, I dug up the 1935 10K class ring maybe thirty feet out!!

I worked my way back to where I parked and called it a day tired, but thankful to be able to get out there and find something to brag about.

Those are nice looking rings Cupajo.......
They are worth bragging about in my opinion.
Congrats Gold Nuggets :wiggle:

Very nice CJ... old gold is my favorite and the DF sure does good finding it :) I'm still playing with my GT found 3 rings with it last week... but I'll be taking the DF out of mothballs soon ;)

Thank you Fellow Hunters for your replies!!

My oldest water find so far was a man's wedding band in 18K dated 1873.

It looked like new too.

This beach area has been in use for as long as there have been people living in the area and there are surely older items to be found yet!!

Both of these rings are small from a "weight" standpoint with the class ring bordering on "tiny", but I was happy to see them in the sifter!

It is getting harder to find gold because of the heavy MD traffic and the sand moving in to cover the parts of the hunting grounds where they seem to be found most.

Nearly all of what I found this past year has been old and small.

CJ,
It is a pleasure to see your hard earned success!

Nice finds keep up the good work. I wish I could fine some gold but still learning the machine having a hell of a time learning how to pinpoint even on dry with the double coil oh well there is always a learning curve. I dig a lot of small pieces of lobster traps etc I bet I could build a house from all of them.

Thanks to you all!!

I find the items easier by using a sifter with many small holes.

This one, my "super Sifter" has a larger screen from Garrett as a quick way to deal with the larger stones and when it is determined that the item is in the sifter below the green sifter is tossed overboard for easy access to the item.

The second view may help you to better understand.

I often recover the smallest bits of metal and don't waste valuable time losing items from my scoop!

Granted there are many times that I have fun just trying to get the item in the sifter.

Hair pins are the worst!!!!!!!!!

Regards,

CJ

Thanks GH,

When the sand isn't a problem the haul can be much better!

I'm covering a lot of ground, but only able to penetrate a small part of the of it to where the "goodies" are.

I'm content that I have done very well given the conditions and that I am doing my part.

Now if we can just get "Old Ma Nature" to move the sand back onto the beach I'll have some real hunting!!

GL&HH Friend,

CJ.
