:usaflag: The Excal Was Acting Up So I Switched to My Ace 250 And Finished My Hunt !! :detecting:

I have not used the Ace very much because the constant signal tones are a problem for me.

I don't like noise and I couldn't seem to quiet the little beast down to a level I was happy with!

When my Excal started acting up this PM ( I discovered a battery problem!!) I switched to the Ace.

I set it to coins and sensitivity level 4 and started hunting and in no time at all found that I was enjoying using the little critter!

I started finding coins missed by the frequent hunters with every kind of detector one might think of including the Excal I have been using!

I hunted the same ground I have been searching for many weeks now and I was finding coins tarnished from being exposed to salt and water.

They have been there and not been found for whatever reason until I found them with the Ace!!

It was a most enjoyable evening and I am looking forward to a repeat performance from the ACE!!

I just got my Ace and have only been out once with it but it seems to be a darn good little machine for the money.

Now I'm not saying it's the best machine out there-but I rued the day I got mine just like you. After using my other machines, I got into a couple of areas that I needed ID-both tone and visual. I learned to turn the sensitivity down, sometimes even to 2 bars when the surface trash was horrendous. I learned to hunt a little slower, then after finding a signal UW and others told me about twitching, lifting the coil to check big targets,,etc. To be honest you can play with the target and kinda get a lot of info about it. Now I've learned some tidbits like leaving the SECOND tab icon ON when in coins mode and just omitting the most common form of the tab-the targets that did register turned out to be square tabs, a crushed screwcap, and another piece of junk (could've been a ring!) The point is it hits harder on the coins now-it even picked a nickel and a dime together and ID'd BOTH of them-one on one sweep and the other on the return sweep. And I don't worry about recovery time at most sites because I'm either at jewelry or my favorite relics mode and two targets close together may give one signal at regular sweep speed, but when I slow the coil down to check them, they separate fine enough. If they had an Ace 150 with the ability to set the disc. like you wanted it, I'd have one of them.

ace 250 worked fine for me also--sold it got bhid got an old gta 500 the other day seems to work fine also

Rick,
I thought you were using a 1350? Yeah my hunting buddy has a 250 and he loves it.

I've been going back over areas that I hunted with my ADS III years ago and keep finding more gold and silver with the ACE. Great machine for the money.

Oh yeah!:super:That Ace 250 is a coin magnet!:detecting:Wifey kicks my tail with it almost every time!:lol:Happy Hunting!:)
