Using SE for silver hunting.

:detecting: I think I have found out why I don't find silver as often as a couple of my buddies. I have been waiting for the cursor to settle in the classic positions before digging or at least bouncing around near the classic positions on the smartfind screen. While playing around with some silver coins in my back yard I found that when I raised my coil to 6 inches or more the cursor would move around or lock in a different position on the screen when deeper than 5 or 6 inches. So what I have been doing is finding the rare shallow silver coin. I now know that when deep hunting you must pay special heed to the depth and sound of the coin wherever the cursor is located or jumping on the screen. I now I will dig a little more trash but I am sure more silver. Please correct me if I am wrong. This is using the SE Minelab of course. Thanks in advance

:DI went out to the back yard today to try my new way of detecting with my SE. All I can say is it works. I am finding a lot more of the deep stuff. I found a wheel bearing at 12 inches the other day. and deep a:super: clad dime also. Today I marked a coin at 8 inches and it turned out to be a Wheatie. This is good because I have only found one other Wheatie in the back yard with digging over 200 holes in the last 2 years. This yard is so cluttered that hunting it is a real pain. Going by the sound and depth seems to be the answer and paying less attention to where the cursor is jumping around also helps.
