Using the G2 with the 5" X10" Eliptical coil for..........................

Use the 5 x 10 and dig all signals from foil up to zinc penny. My wife's very expensive 14k engagement ring ID's in on the high end of the gold scale just about where zinc penny is. We hunt with a guy that refuses to dig pull tabs and zincs. Well he won't find rings like I have found and I know he has been over the same ground with his etrac. I found two rings in the same park in one week; an 18k heavy wedding band and a 14k opal with 3 diamond chips. Very nice rings.
Park gold is a very tough target...heres a tip though..
Focus on the primary locations....let the trash show you the way...if theres a totlot, hit it...the trash will show you how people interact with the Park, and what kind of people you are tracking...IE: mothers put their little kids in a child swing, and face them as they push them, so they can see the kids face, they dont push them from behind......their rings get caught on the chain and go flying to the rear or side of those baby swings.
Hit the high activity areas like BB courts..

One of them was behind a stationary bench about 3 inches down. The other was near the base of a tree. Maybe someone sat down there or maybe the rings were buried intentionally due to losing someone. I always wondered if the two rings were never meant to be found.
Yep...what Lloyd said...Gold is a cruel Mistress, park gold especially, once you got gold fever, there is no cure no matter how much you find, its not enough!
To really 'up your odds' come up with a very fast retrieval method and focus on junk (I use a screwdriver ONLY, no pinpointer either, a guy has to be fast!)...foil up into zinc signals are your target..commit yourself to learning what your parks are telling you, if you are finding lots of clad and tabs and nickels, you are in pay dirt! Hunt chains...thats where the money is, most dirt chains have had a coil over them a time or two, but the signal either was disced out or considered trash...
Forget about deep targets, you gotta cover a lot of ground fast and just grind out a couple of hundred targets per day in good pay dirt parks..take a quick perusal of Craigslist for "Lost Rings/Jewelry/Gold"...this will say a lot about your local demographics and where the gold is NOW being lost...guess what? Its primarily in parking lots and restaurant bathrooms etc..That said, for Park gold, you are hunting GOLD lost in the 60's and 70's era!
Theres no money in the little 2gr 10ks.(foil)..you want big gold and a lot of it! Nickel on up signals...Grab all the clad, even pennies, you can knock down more money in clad than gold truth be told...if you are getting 10k+ clad coins per year, you are hunting! Clad will also keep you motivated and tell you about the travel patterns and your odds, soil conditions, age and depth etc...
Looking back, concerning park gold, I have never once accurately 'called it' prior to the dig...sure, some signals are exactly what you want in exactly the right place for it being gold, but it seldom is...chains are the exception, scrappy signal all around, so focus on location and demographics!....Read as many posts as you can from the Park Gold Hunters.
....theres no magic settings or tricks except paying attention to what your scrap finds are telling you, you can just as easily find it with a low end rig as with a top shelf detector...
One year, I logged over 100 miles swinging coil gold hunting in July alone with no results, then, BAM! So you have to be optimistic, and not give up...hit hard fast and often! and actually have dreams about your parks and where it may be hiding...the trash will point the way...Hunt where others dare to tread, like Lloyd mentioned...under benches and in the trash...pay attention and dream about it, watch people that wear gold, see how many gold chain wearers you can spot in a week, then try to hunt that demographic...Gold will be there for you if you dare go after it...its a fools errand, but every once in a while, even a blind nut finds a squirrel...

ps: I have found NO gold yet this year, after probably 200 miles on foot and 10k targets popped, so take this all with a grain of salt...I will dream about gold again tonight, and be up and out tomorrow hunting it though.

This has been a tough gold year for poor old me! Nothing so far! 
In the past, I've found a little over 30 gold items within 20 miles of my house..got all the 'primary drop zones' pretty much cleaned out. Hunting the same old places and looking for new opportunities along the way...
Even the clad is getting tight, been a long time since a really good $20 clad haul around here...All I'm finding this year is junk rings and chains...of course I got a massive bill score in May doing my milk run of the totters, so that was good...
I may have to move if I want to find some gold!
....Heres a shot of a massive clad haul last December. I need to get back in there since I was highgrading as you can see....its 250 miles away, and I was going through on a business trip, pulled off an exit for gas, saw a park, had my gear, conditions were perfect, cold overcast and drizzle.. Definitely gold in this place, way too much loot for it NOT to be here!...those Q pings were so sweet though, I got distracted...

my advice, besides second'ing the wise words already spoken, is to really learn how VCO audio woks as an important aid.....ie sizing and audio volume...
learn how to increase your odds by passing on as much canslaw as possible....look for tight, strong, 'round' signals with little id variation...the 6x10 is killer and doesn't seem to like metal bottle tops as much....
good luck....ps take a couple gold rings out to the field and do a quick shallow burial for test purposes to give yourself a good idea...

Best jewelry for me has been in active sports areas. The targets are few and far between but I dig almost all of them. I have had my best luck in the areas where players take off their gear. Go by the parks and fields when they are playing. look for where they park, what route they use to their cars, put their bags, which field they are playing in most. Look for shady rest areas, there is a field near me where there are only 3 trees near the field. Guess where most of the people sit? Simple is best dont spend a ton of time analyzing targets. I dont have a lot of faith in the accuracy of the GBP when hunting jewelry. Just get down and dig it and move on. With the GBP/G2 weak targets may be deep or they may be earrings or chains near the surface. Good luck.
