Using Vaquero in All Metal Mode

I posted yesterday about using the "V" in All Metal but no body answered my questions. Were my questions inappropriate, stupid, or did people not know the answers? I just wanted to know how the depth of the "V" in All Metal compares to the DISC at the Iron setting, and then to the settings at the other end of the dial around silver? Thanks

Sometimes you will seldom get answers right away on this site. It jut depends on who sees it. The answer to your question is that if the vaquero is in all metal it will be deeper on everything compared to DISC. The only thing you don't wanna do is turn your discrimination up too high unless your in a rush and just want to cherry pick because there will be a little loss in depth. But yes, all metal mode will help gain a little more depth. I usually just search with the DISC knob inbetween iron and nickel and go from there. Don't forget if you are in discriminate mode and getting a signal that your unsure about because it might be a little deeper you can always just hold down the pinpoint button because that puts the detector in all metal mode without having to turn the Disc. Thanks, that helped a lot. I was repounding some sites I searched before hoping to go deeper and find more good things, but usually got more bottle caps and pull tabs without using DISC.

Yea in all metal mode you are going to find whatever is underneath your coil down to a reasonable depth. If the site is trashy you could try turnin the sensitivity down a little bit because even though lowering the sensitivity lowers depth a little, it still might make the deeper signals sound clearer. And if the site isnt really trashy in some cases you may want to turn the threshold up quite a bit too, cuz it helps make deeper signals sound better as well. If you know there's gotta still be stuff there, you will find it. Where you located?

I see no difference in Depth running the Vaqureo in All Metal and a Disc setting at the Iron reject mark,but to obtain the same Depth you will have to Super Tune the Vaquero ,which is better because then you have your Disc into play.I have been Relic Hunting for Many years and use all metal mode on alot of detectors,if the conditions are right,On the Silver Range,don't worry ,the Vaquero looses no Depth at that higher setting,its one of the few detectors out there that dosn't.I have found alot of Relics and Silver coins with the Vaquero,But remember your gonna have to Super Tune it and Listen to some Noise to achive that Depth. You Have one of the Best detectors out there,just make it work for you.Hope I helped on the subject.

All Metal mode penitrates the soil with a wider path. Disc mode path is narrower, it misses more deeper targets. I use All Metal in cornfields where targets are far apart. When targets are close together I use Disc mode. I learned that here in one of the forums. I tested it and I agree it's true. My meter gives a reading in All Metal mode, that helps me decide to dig or not. I use a Fisher but the Cortes and the Deleon give meter readout in All Metal mode as well, very helpful feature.

I agree,All Metal does have a wider path,its going to see everthing ,even at the edge of the coil,I also use All Metal in open fields,but only when theres not alot of small nails present to deal with.I will dig them for awhile then its Disc time.The ID Meter can be a big asset in All Metal like you said,But theres just a few detectors that will do that well and do it at Depth,It will save alot of digging in the all metal mode for sure.

Rick, Knowing this makes field hunts more productive for sure. And anyone can test it out this way: Start in either mode. When a target is found switch over to the other mode without changing the sweep position. If the coil is centered over the deep target both modes will get it, but if the coil is not centered over the target only the All Metal mode will get the target. In All Metal mode I look at the meter for each beep. In Disc mode I have the same meter ID plus 4 tones on my CoinStrike. When they first hit the market the C$ got a bad reputation because quite a few had defective coils I'm told. Its a terrific detector, goes deep, and they say is excellent in highly mineralized soil when the Treshold is dropped down.
