USPS lost my detector

I've not had a lot of luck with any shippers. I'm sure living in Dodge City doesn't help, but still, I am a customer.

I have a package that should have been delivered yesterday from UPS. Today I find a note on my front gate telling me he tried to deliver a package that requires a person and a signature. HELLO!!! it was attempted at 10:00 AM, I work for a living and am single. He knows and normally delivers after 5 no idea why he's trying to deliver at 10?

I had FedEx try and deliver once and all I got was a letter the first day saying it was the 3rd delivery attempt and the last. I'm like you've got to be kidding me!.I contacted the seller and told him to keep his item if he is going to ship FedEx.

Caught the UPS guy down the road once and I had a package that the Internet said was "Out For Delivery" and the time was expected from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. To be safe I took off early at 1:00 PM and found his note on my box. I had left a note on my mailbox, just in case this sort of thing happened, asking him to call me and I would either be there in 5 minutes or meet him. When I caught him down the road he said he didn't have a cell phone. Yea right! A UPS guy with no cell phone.

They actually managed to deliver two packages on time ................ My end for receive, and the other end for receive..

Now isn't that something.................... Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

2 day priority was two day priority................... So out of the Thousands and thousands of pieces of mail sent every day ..sometimes it gets done right...

Still no where to be found. Dam post office is really no help in finding my lost detector. Looks like I have to wait a total of 45 days before filing a claim, what a joke. I could have drove it out myself to Sweet Home OR, got it fixed and came home in 10 days.

man ,I feel for you have been their before lost one for 22 days when I got it ,it was a mess.i always ship detectors by UPS ground never had a problem ,bur regardless always insure the detector:thumbup:another thing ALWAYS wrap the detectors box other wise they see what you have and if they see no insurance sticker-----ITS GONE!!.

I have had a problem with our local PO. If I should receive a package while I am out of town and the PO is holding my mail it almost takes an act of God to get the package. No one can ever find the package.

Was out of town this past weekend and knew by the tracking information that my Post Office had the package and suspected that they had held a second package that I was expecting.

My wife made two trips to the Post Office. One Female employee even made two trips to the back room and came back and said that the package was not there. A Female had also not been able to find the package on my wife's first visit.

I went down to the Po today with the tracking number and it took the Male employee all of about a minute to go get my two packages and deliver them to me. This has been the story every time that a package has arrived at that post office while mail was being held.

We have a supervisor like that at our branch..He doesn't want to do anything ............ except get paid...

I'm presently waiting for a package that was shipped from Virginia to arrive in Massachusetts.

It's been two weeks and the tracking number indicates that they received it and sent it to a sorting facility... and then the trail goes cold!

I've got to contact the USPS tommorow and I'm sure I get a "we'll look into it an get back to you" response.

Well... I guess maybe you shouldn't give up hoping to get your detector???

Almost exactly one month after my package was due to arrive... it was cheerfully delivered by my Postman. (go figure?)

Talked to the supervisor at the post office today and he said they put a tracer - whatever that is - on the package. So basically I am screwed. Lesson learn is always insure your package and always wrap or double box the contents from prying eyes. I have no doubt that someone just stole the detector...its not lost, its stolen:rant:

For me, USPS has never lost a single item I have sold through detecting and hunting forums. But, they all lose stuff one time or another. On the other hand UPS "lost" a very expensive fly rod that had been shipped to me from Cabela's. I'm sure a UPS employee or friend enjoyed it. When I ship with USPS I always use a strong, different container even if I have to buy one. I always over pack and ALWAYS include, inside the package, addresses of both parties. And always insure. You gotta be smarter then the gorillas handling the mail.

If you have trouble with one branch ..try another.

It's all to do with the employees. Some branches have an abundance of their just there doing as little as possible collecting a check.
Other branches have employees who actually want to be there and do the best they can....

If you live in a one post office town...try a town near you............ You will be amazed at the difference in service, and accuracy of deliveries..

I worked for USPS from nov.1979 til apr. 2014 and they had already stopped receiving tax dollars when I started.

I bought a coil last year from a forum member. Accidently gave him my home zip code when I was actually having it shipped to work.
U.S.P S. Sorted it and shipped it to the correct P.O. for the address supplied. Someone at that post office said the address didn't exist and sent it to the P O. for my neighborhood, which that mailing address DOES NOT exist in.
I just happened to catch that they were shipping it back to the sender on the tracking website and made a call to the post office and caught it before it went on the truck.
Calling and emailing the Postal Service to complain about it got me no where.
