Last 2 times out have netted me some pretty good finds for hunted out parks. I guess as long as the ground is not frozen then the year is still alive. About a week ago I stopped at the big park in SLC, which has been completely pounded. I saw Captain Kirk there and he was nice enough to show me where he has been finding all of his coins. After talking to him for a while I started hunting in an area close by. For the 3 hours of hunting I did pretty dang good for that park, 9 wheat back pennies and the 4 silvers shown below. The nickel is a 44-S, mint mark is covered by gunk.

Then me and Greg(ut) hooked up today for our typical 3 hour hunt. We went to another hunted out park and I nabbed 8 wheat back pennies and finally some bigger silver.

Unfair how! Where!....I am up here in Surgarhouse..guess what park I hunt? I just started 4 months ago got a little Prizm II. You guys must be pros cause I don't find silver like that!. Got a ton of rings and stuff..but not getting deep enough I think. Nice to know I am not the only guy ruining his pants in this area! Good finds! <img src="/metal/html/cry.gif" border=0 width=40 height=15 alt=":cry">

in the 5 to 7 inch range. Some of the wheats might have been 8 inch. Most finds are next to trash and are not very good signals.

Joesph,
I suspect that you are hunting Sugarhouse park. I have hunted that a few times and never found anything but lot of clad, but it is a huge and I have hunted only a small part of it.
If you wish, then send me an email and perhaps we can do some hunting together after the weather improves.

Glenn

Andrus,
Gary H. and I have been doing some experimentation in that hunted out park. We marked out a small rectangle about 8' by 10'. We switched to ferrous mode (to reject the low growly signals) and dug all the other targets. We did find a few additional good targets, but it was painful. In the first hour I moved forward just 5 feet (about 4 feet wide) and dug about perhaps 30 pulltabs and a 1920 wheat under a pulltab. Gary had a similar result and found a 1904 Indian. All of this just lets us now that there is more good stuff down there if you are patient
HH,
Glenn
