Vacant Lot finds from Monday. Not much but worth posting, I think? :detecting:

Monday I got the news from my boss that a Vacant Lot in town was about to get stripped for a house going up. We are building it so this was the time I was waiting for. They tore off about 12" of Dirt so my hopes were high in finding some Barber or Indians. This wasn't the case, at least not for now. If there is any Old stuff, it's most likely up in the Hill they made. They were down this far and I still was finding things still in the ground. I hit a small area where I got 4 Wheat Pennies at. I also got a Wheat by the Sidewalk on my way into the Lot. I was hoping for Silver but didn't find any. I did find a Copper Token with Franklin D. Roosevelt on it though. Total Wheat's were 5 dated 1944,1945,1945-d,1946-d, and 1948-s. I also found 3 Spoons, the Larger reads Carlton Silver Plate, and the 2 other read Atlas Extra Silver Plate, an Old Button, a Boy's Scouts item, and some other item that has a Pat. Date of Dec. 4, 1900. Other Misc. items surfaced but nothing to really post about. The Old Lock item was found during the weekend and was in with the Trash. It reads Eagle Lock Co. Derbyville, CT. U.S.A. and has a Patent Date of Feb 25, 1896. Too bad I only found half of the Lock. I was also hunting with a friend that uses a Garrett Ace 250 and he only found some Junk and 1 Wheat Penny. So I think the other finds are most likely in that Pile of Dirt. Just have to wait until we get the house built and they level off that pile most likely in the late fall. Thanks for looking and Good Luck and HH to you all.[attachment 71419 DirtyWheats.jpg][attachment 71432 CleanedWheats.jpg][attachment 71422 DirtyToken.jpg][attachment 71430 CleanedToken.jpg][attachment 71428 DirtyMisc..jpg][attachment 71433 CleanedMisc..jpg]

there was once a House here and I think some of the ground had been turned in order for me to find the Wheat's and Token even after the top layer being scraped away that Deep. They had to be about 3" Deeper. There was still about 18" of Dirt until you hit Clay (visible after digging the Hole). There was also an Old Cistern and parts of Foundation taken out also. But I am sure you are right about there being finds in that Pile. Just wish there was a way to go through it. Not really any room to even dig away at the pile and move dirt from one spot to another. I hope that when the back filling process takes place that the Coins will show themselves. Thanks for the response Chris. Still waiting to see some of your finds when you were back up here. Good Luck and HH back home!:detecting:

Not a bad outing.Id tackle that dirt pile, rake a bit of it out and ya might get lucky! Good Luck:))

I may just try that! Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

there is stuff deeper than 12" in many many places, especially parks. i know one park in san francisco where they scraped a foot off in some places and guys were getting barbers and seateds 6" down in the scraped area. that means those coins were down around 18" in the turf, far out of reach of any detector.
i think most places have a strata of out of reach coins that will take a scrape or newer technology to reach.

There has to be spots that have some ultra deep targets due to filling or like Parks next to rivers that flood every spring. That is why I am still waiting for the next detector that comes out that will get another say 6" of depth. Then we will see for sure what happens in some of them Old Parks. Thanks for the response and Good Luck and HH.:detecting:
