Vacation Hunt in New York

New member
Last week I went to visit my relatives in the Hudson Valley in New York. They live on the old Borden Homestead (where the Borden's Dairy
started). I grew up there and remember old fountains and buildings in the woods and the Borden Mansion just down the street. I got
permission to hunt some of the grounds. It rained several days, so I wasn't able to hunt as much as I would have liked to. My parent's house
yeilded the best of the finds. I found 11 wheaties (1911, '19, '20, 2-'42s, 2-'44s, '46. '50, '51, and '58 ), half a crotal bell, lead
calvery solder, and a toy spur. Down near the barn I found about 11 tin men. I remember finding some of these when I was little. They were
supposedly mounted on the barn to ward off evil spirits and to bring good luck (sort of a talisman). I have never been able to find much out
about them on the internet, so if anyone else has any insight let me know.

Also found a bunch of iron .. hoe head, rings, etc .. couple toys, old knife, and some change.

Thanks for looking ... Ron

Cool finds. I like the tin-man collection. Hunting away from home and the usual spots is always fun, and NY state is some beautiful country. My brother bought some property in upstate PA with an old stagecoach trail running through it and I'm dyin' to get up there and check it out. There may not be anything there to find but if I do make one I think it will be a significant find. Either way, a chase without a kill is still better than no chase at all.
