Vaquero battery life

Active member
I've had some Tesoros that could double and triple the battery life claimed by Tesoro. My Cortes could go 60 hours on a set of batteries! I read about the Outlaw getting amazing hours out of the battery. I'm finding my Vaquero is not one of these battery life wonders. I'm getting 10-15 hours out of a battery. How does your Vaquero do for battery life? I'm using headphones (wireless TDK) 100% of the time.

Thanks,

Dan

Dan I had a Vaq a while back myself sold it but we all make mistakes LOL but anyway I did notice that the Batterry life was close to yours for sure I used Coppertop batteries and energisers did not make a difference could only get about 16 to 18 hours out of them maybe thats why its classified as a HOT detector only thing I liked about it was that it was the deepest detector I ever had when supertuned but man it was an Iron Magnet

I love my Vaquero. I'm just a bit surprised at the low battery life. Then again, I guess there is a price to pay for that great depth.

My Vaquero usually last a full 15 hrs. and sometimes 20. I believe the peak performance is in the first 12 hrs. I have started using Powerex true 9.6V (230mAh) rechargeable batteries in both my Vaquero and Garrett pin pointer. I am liking the results so far.

I haven't used my Vaq enough yet to offer any help here. Also, most of my detecting is an hour or two here and there which makes it difficult to judge battery life as the battery gets a chance to rest after moderate use most of the time. That said, 15 - 18 hours on a single battery system isn't really a handicap IMHO. If you're detecting parks, fair grounds etc. you should be finding enough clad to cover battery costs easily.

I get somewhere between 12 to 15 hours before I notice the battery losing life. Now my Tiger Shark on the other hand can go all summer with heavy use before I change batteries.

The Vaquero loves our $1 and $2 coins, so batteries are definitely covered.
It looks like my battery life is typical. Thanks for all the feedback.

Dan
