Vaquero current draw

Does anybody know how much maH draw is on the Vaquero? I charged my batteries last night and they lasted 2-3 hours today. They are only 2 months old and should last me all day. I know I'll get asked the question when I take them back. Just curious. Thanks for any info you have.

I do not know the current draw of the high power units. Cibola and Vaquero. But I do know that they eat batteries compared to the older units.
Thats why I love my golden and may buy an outlaw.

That detector is maxed out with that one 9volt battery. You really have to have the very top of the line rechargeable 9volts.If i was really serious i would look into a 9volt lithium battery and keep the rechargeables on the side. The lithium is expensive but these battery's are the best you can get.My Tejon takes 8AA's.AA'S have more capacity than 9volts. :-*

I use 9v (8.4v) LiIon batteries for my Vaq. Two with a charger were around $25 bucks shipped. One battery will last several 2-3 hr hunts.
NiMH and NiCad will lose charge sometimes over night. They often develope internal shorts that drain them.
I have never had success with NiCad or NiMH.

Ok, I'll take them back up and look for something different. 2 batteries and the charger were around $50, thought it was a great idea as I hate having to pay 3 or 4 dollars for a battery. My battery went dead during a hunt last weekend so I went to a local convenience store. $6.50 for 1, what a rip.
Thanks for your input.

Biggest problems with nicad and nihi batteries is heat and over charging. Get a charger that auto shuts off when full and they will last longer.
I presently have 2 batteries and always put 1 in at night the other is tthe last days hunting.
Will always last for a few hours the next day then I swap them and recharge.

Not so fast!It is a great idea. What you have might be fine. You just got to make sure to do a top off charge the night before.I am going to get back into rechargeables myself.I was just saying that maybe a lithium battery might be nice to try, that's all.I can't afford them either.Right now i got some energizer alkaline.I had some rechargables called powermax at one time and they were good. But if doing rechargables it does pay to research around a bit.Ask questions at the local batteries plus store if you have one local. You may be ok bill. :-Q

These are Powerex true 9.6v. Got them from BatteriesPlus. Still going to have them check 'em out, cant hurt.

Those are hot batteries!!!!That true 9.6's is hard to get.Everyone will tell you that powerex is the one you want.Just check that the charger is set correctly, because there is two types, well three or four now.I would charge those up good and have the extra one charged with you.Or if you do get a few extra bucks try one of the new 9v lithiums. The lithium is tops for serious electronic equipment. The lithium might be to big for the compartment? But i had powerex. And a lot of detectorist will back me up on that one. That battery will charge to almost 10volts.So,what do you do? :nerd:

What is foever ? 10-15 hours ? The golden/bandido/eldorados get double that easy.
An when your trying to find enough to pay for the batteries and finding it hard to do. That extra 10 hours helps.
No I am not knocking tesoro. just stating that the delta and epsilon llines are different in battery life.

9volts just don't have much capacity. The Vaquero is a strong detector. There is a difference in battery life power between the two for sure.I still want to get some of those energizer lithium's.The vaquero is pushing that one 9volt to the limit.

I get about 8 -9 hours outta my V at the most and use headphones every hunt. It seems to kill any brand pretty quickly, so now I'm running Rayovac alkaline. They supposedly have the same power, and last as long as Energizer. It seems that detectors that use two 9 volts (like Fishers F-series) have a much longer run time.
